Job description

Overview
At Esri, our solution engineer team leads are part of a highly skilled technical team that promotes and sells the adoption of Esri technology in partnership with account managers and other Esri staff. We invite you to use your coaching and team-building skills, as well as your experience with geospatial technology, to become an integral part of State and Local Government's solution engineering team. We're looking for an individual who inspires and motivates others and who enjoys implementing strategies that will radically improve the challenges our customers face. You'll lead a team that helps customers take advantage of geospatial analysis to find unique patterns and trends hidden within complex business problems.

Responsibilities
  • Empower your team. Manage the technical activities of your solution engineer team by working with account and sales managers to strategically lead all technical stages of the sales process. Mentor your team through active coaching, clear direction, and regular feedback. Cultivate a virtual team to support sales objectives and generate results.
  • Build relationships. Present, demonstrate, and support selling Esri software and solutions as part of the account team. Gain access to technical enterprise-level decision makers and lead technical meetings that drive revenue. Partner closely with Sales leadership to align team strategies and goals.
  • Be an expert. Be a technical leader of ArcGIS as well as a subject matter expert of various industries. Demonstrate your advanced understanding of sales strategies and initiatives to develop complex solutions for Esri's most strategic customers.
  • Solve problems. Proactively craft and propose solutions that clarify how GIS brings business value to our customers by addressing the critical business challenges they face. Define and deliver complex strategies that align Esri technology with our largest customers' business needs. Understand an organization's business structure, associated workflows, third party business systems, and integration points.
  • Tell our story. Design presentations for technical and non-technical audiences within Esri's largest customers. Provide configuration guidance and best practices. Empower others to present at large conferences, trade shows and executive engagements.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience with Esri technology creating maps, performing spatial analysis, and configuring web applications
  • 3+ years of experience mentoring, motivating, and coaching on a team
  • Advanced understanding of current GIS technology, including the full ArcGIS system to demonstrate Esri's patterns of use for various industries
  • Broad knowledge of ArcGIS from an IT context (e.g., hardware, software, storage, security, networking, servers, databases, web services, virtualization, cloud computing)
  • Demonstrated experience in technical consulting and conceptual solution design
  • Demonstrated experience of actively participating in a sales process
  • Remarkable presentation, interpersonal, and listening skills
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally up to 50%
  • Bachelor's degree in geography, GIS, business administration, or a related field
