What is an HHA private case?

HHA private cases refer to Home Health Aide (HHA) jobs where aides provide care to clients in their homes on a private basis, rather than through an agency or public healthcare system. In these cases, the client or their family typically hires the HHA directly and may pay out-of-pocket. Responsibilities often include assisting with daily living activities, personal care, light housekeeping, and sometimes basic medical tasks. These positions can offer more flexible schedules and closer relationships with clients, but may not provide the same benefits or job security as agency positions.

What is the difference between Hha Private Cases vs Home Health Aide?

AspectHha Private CasesHome Health Aide
CertificationsMust have HHA certification, CPR, and first aidTypically requires HHA certification, CPR, and first aid
Work EnvironmentPrivate homes, one-on-one patient careHospitals, nursing homes, private homes
Employer & IndustryHome healthcare agencies, private clientsHome healthcare agencies, hospitals, senior care facilities

Hha Private Cases primarily involve providing personalized care to clients in private homes, often requiring specific certifications like HHA, CPR, and first aid. Home Health Aides work in similar environments but may also serve in hospitals and care facilities. Both roles focus on assisting with daily living activities, but Hha Private Cases typically involve more individualized, private client care.

What are common challenges HHAs face when working on private cases, and how can they address them?

When working on private cases, HHAs often face challenges such as adapting to unique client routines, managing expectations of clients and their families, and handling the isolation that can come from working independently. To address these challenges, it's important to establish clear communication from the start, set boundaries, and keep detailed records of care provided. Building a professional rapport with both the client and their family can help foster trust and ensure all parties are aligned on care expectations. Additionally, networking with other HHAs or joining professional associations can provide valuable support and resources.

What skills and qualifications are needed to thrive as an HHA in private cases?

To thrive as an HHA in private cases, you typically need a high school diploma or equivalent, completion of a state-approved Home Health Aide training program, and sometimes certification such as HHA or CNA. Familiarity with basic medical equipment, personal care procedures, and electronic documentation systems is often required. Compassion, reliability, strong communication, and cultural sensitivity are crucial soft skills for building trust with clients and families. These skills ensure the delivery of safe, personalized care and foster a supportive environment for clients in their homes.

Job description

Are you an experienced caregiver, CNA, or HHA who's ready for something better than rotating shifts and facility caseloads?
Senior Helpers South Valley is looking for skilled, compassionate caregivers with experience in complex or high-acuity care - dementia and behavioral support, post-stroke recovery, Parkinson's care, bariatric transfers, or post-surgical needs. If you've built your skills in hospice, skilled nursing, or home health and you're ready to bring that expertise to one client at a time, we want to talk to you.
What makes this different:
Pay: $20-$23/hr, based on experience and case complexity
One client at a time - no juggling a full facility floor
Consistent, respected scheduling - no last-minute shift dumps
Thoughtful case matching - we place you with clients who fit your skills, not just an open slot
Ongoing training and certification support (dementia care, transfer/mobility, and more)
A team that treats you as a professional, not a gig worker
What we're looking for:
1+ years of hands-on experience with complex or high-acuity clients (hospice, SNF, home health, or private duty)
Current CNA/HHA certification (or equivalent state credential)
Strong communication skills - you're comfortable working closely with families, not just patients
Reliable, patient, and steady under pressure
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if applicable to your cases)
Why caregivers choose Senior Helpers South Valley:
We work with families who need real expertise, and we know that starts with respecting the people who provide it. If you're tired of being treated like a number, or you're a skilled caregiver working private cases on your own and want the support of a real team behind you - benefits, backup scheduling, and steady referrals - this is worth a conversation.
Apply today. Tell us about your experience and what kind of cases you do best - we'll match you with clients who need exactly what you offer.
