Heavy Equipment Operations Skills Instructor
Term of Employment:  Part-time as needed/Up to 19.5 hours per week/Not benefits eligible
Salary Range:               $22 per hour
Location:                      Multiple Sites
Hours:                          As needed, can include Saturdays 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
                                     and some evenings between 3:30p.m. 7:30p.m.
Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Operations (HEO) Skills Instructor works under the direction of the program Instructor. The Skills Instructor assists in preparing instructions and materials used during instruction, demonstrations and skills practice. The Skills Instructor works or has worked in the industry and has the ability to teach the skills of the program's industry. The HEO Skills Instructor must adhere to Pima County JTED policies and procedures as well as the prescribed dress code while at work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
Assists the instructor with the setup of instruction, demonstration and skills rotations
Teaches skills lab and/or rotations to high school students
Works closely with the instructor to assist students in gaining skills for certification and future student advanced training
Monitors students and assist with any questions they may have regarding the instruction, demonstration and skills rotations
Must be able to evaluate and provide guidance to students in industry certifications related to the program
Ensures safe and effective use of training facilities
Performs other related duties as assigned 
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable

Minimum Qualifications/Education and/or Experience:
Must be at least 18 years old
At least three years of work experience in a related industry
High school diploma or equivalent
Have minimum three years knowledge of operating heavy equipment and construction techniques
Proof of MMR immunization required, unless born prior to January 1, 1957
Negative TB test (within the last year)
Valid IVP fingerprint clearance card or be able to obtain one
Valid Arizona Driver License
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English, excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge of NCCER certifications, OSHA standards
Knowledge of excavation work, preparing for grading surfaces and earth moving techniques
