What We’re Searching for:

Hood Container Corporation is looking for a skilled Machine Helper for the Winston-Salem, NC plant. Being focused, driven, ambitious, career minded, team-oriented, and able to communicate professionally with others will lead you to success in this role. We are seeking an individual that can move to the Assistant Machine operator and evenually become a Machine Operator.

Day in the life:

  • Manufacture Corrugated Cartons.
  • Responsible for the machine crews' daily activities, accountable for machine and crew performance as they relate to waste, efficiency, quality, and uptime objectives.
  • Must be team-oriented, organized, detailed, and able to perform physical activities.
  • Experience with equipment operation and safety guidelines.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends when required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

A. Set up the pre-feeder, mount printing plates and set up deliver sections.

B. Feed blanks into machine.

C. Keep watch on boards feeding into machine and make adjustments or corrections as needed.

D. Must meet acceptable quality guidelines.

E. Retrieve dies and inks; return used inks to storage

F. Promptly report problems, concerns or out-of-standard conditions to the Operator.

G. Read Masters/Work Orders.

H. Operate machine in the operator’s absence or as needed.

I. Keep work area clean and tools in proper storage place.

J. Must meet acceptable productivity levels.

K. Follow all plant safety rules and safe work practices.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

A. Assist in lifting and carrying materials and tooling needed for machine set

up; such as 45-50 lb. ink buckets.

B. Assist the operator in setting up the printer.

C. Record hours and quantities in JDEdwards

D. Other duties as assigned.

III. QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

A. Possess necessary reading and writing skills.

B. Able to read a ruler and have the ability to perform simple fractions.

C. Communicate effectively.

D. Work overtime as needed to meet production requirements.

E. Maintain an acceptable level of attendance and punctuality.

F. Work in a hot atmosphere.

G. Climb 2 to 3 stairs to machine platform.

H. Demonstrate initiative and effectiveness in dealing with out-of-the-

ordinary situations which may arise in the course of the job.

I. Be a contributing participant in process improvement initiatives.

J. Follow all safety rules and procedures.
