Job description

Amara Golf & Social Club is seeking an experienced Equipment Manager to join the founding Agronomy team at one of the country’s most anticipated new private golf clubs. This is a unique opportunity to build a maintenance operation from the ground up while helping prepare the golf course and maintenance facilities for opening.

Reporting directly to Director of Agronomy Michael Sullivan and working closely with the Golf Course Superintendent, the Equipment Manager will oversee the maintenance, repair, and organization of a brand-new, state-of-the art equipment fleet. This individual will play a critical role in establishing preventative maintenance programs, organizing the new maintenance facility, implementing shop systems, and ensuring the Agronomy team has the equipment necessary to deliver exceptional course conditions.

Beyond technical expertise, this role requires a highly organized professional who thrives in a startup environment, embraces change, and enjoys building processes that will serve the club for years to come.   • Approximately 15,000 annual rounds
  • 35 full-time Agronomy team members
  • In Season: 40–50 hours per week with one weekend every three weeks
  • Grow-in/Renovation: Hours vary; six-day work weeks are typical

Initial Priorities of the Position:
  • Assist in completing and organizing the new maintenance facility.
  • Prepare and organize the incoming $5 million equipment fleet.
  • Establish preventative maintenance schedules and shop operating procedures.
  • Build inventory management systems and maintenance documentation.
  • Support the completion of the golf course renovation and successful club opening.
  • Develop an organized, efficient, and professional equipment operation that supports exceptional golf course conditions.
Key Responsibilities, Knowledge, Skills, and Aptitude:
  • Oversee all maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance programs for the golf course equipment fleet.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and computerized equipment systems.
  • Maintain reel and bedknife grinding, sharpening, and equipment calibration.
  • Develop and maintain detailed service records, preventative maintenance schedules, and equipment lifecycle documentation.
  • Manage shop organization, parts inventory, fuel programs, and vendor relationships.
  • Assist with capital planning, equipment replacement recommendations, and equipment budgeting.
  • Train Agronomy staff on proper equipment operation and safe operating procedures.
  • Support autonomous equipment technologies, GPS sprayer systems, and emerging maintenance technologies.
  • Coordinate warranty work and outside vendor repairs as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance facility that reflects Amara’s standards of excellence.
  • Respond to equipment emergencies and prioritize repairs to minimize operational downtime.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5-7+ years of experience maintaining golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Previous experience as an Equipment Manager or Assistant Equipment Manager at a private club preferred.
  • Certificate, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred, although equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience with Toro and John Deere equipment.
  • Experience with autonomous mowing technology preferred.
  • GPS sprayer experience preferred.
  • Welding and fabrication experience.
  • Shop construction or maintenance facility startup experience is a plus.
  • Experience supporting golf course construction, renovations, grow-ins, or new course openings highly preferred.
