Job description

Lead Automotive Diagnostics Technician (Multi-Brand)

Provo, Utah | Locally owned and operated for 30+ years

Step into a spotless, well-equipped bay where your expertise sets the pace for the team. As a cornerstone technician in our respected shop, you’ll tackle complex drivability puzzles, mentor rising techs, and help us deliver the integrity-driven service our Provo community counts on.

A Day in the Life

You start by reviewing repair orders and prioritizing diagnostics. A no-start with intermittent faults hits your lift—scanning with advanced tools, referencing Alldata and Mitchell OnDemand, tracing wiring diagrams, and validating with a DVOM and oscilloscope. You collaborate with a service advisor to explain findings, complete the repair, then road-test to confirm. In the afternoon, you coach a junior technician through a brake pulsation concern, quality-check their work, and document everything thoroughly. Your bay stays organized, safe, and inspection-ready.

What You’ll Tackle
  • End-to-end diagnostics and advanced repairs across engines, transmissions, electrical systems, brakes, steering, and HVAC.
  • Use of modern scan tools and software (Alldata, Mitchell OnDemand) to identify root causes—quickly and accurately.
  • Clear communication with service advisors and customers about issues, required work, and preventative maintenance.
  • Mentorship and technical leadership for junior technicians to uphold quality and safety standards.
  • Post-repair road tests, inspections, and documentation for rock-solid quality control.
  • Meticulous record-keeping and a disciplined, safety-first workspace.
Qualifications
  • Required: 5+ years of verifiable experience as an Automotive Technician in a passenger vehicle repair shop.
  • Required: A comprehensive set of professional-grade tools.
  • Required: Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Required: Advanced proficiency with computerized diagnostic equipment and the ability to interpret technical manuals and wiring diagrams.
  • Preferred: Current ASE Master Technician Certification.
  • Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and a commitment to top-tier workmanship.
  • Clear, professional communication with teammates and customers.
What We Offer
  • Compensation: $80,000 – $110,000 annually, depending on experience.
  • Work-Life Balance: Consistent Monday–Friday schedule, with half days on Saturday as needed. Most major holidays off.
  • Professional Growth: Company-paid ongoing training, education, and recertification assistance.
  • Top-Tier Equipment: Clean, organized shop with advanced diagnostic tools and software.
  • Supportive Culture: Team-oriented, family-style environment where your expertise is respected and you can mentor others.
  • Stability: Consistent workflow in a busy, well-regarded shop with a loyal customer base.
  • Free Uniforms: Provided after the probationary period.
Ready to Get Rolling?

If you’re a driven technician who takes pride in accurate diagnostics and mentoring others, we’d love to meet you. We’re interviewing now and ready to hire the right person immediately.
