Job Title: Automotive Diagnostic Technician
Location: Harlan Automotive – Murray, Kentucky

Reports To: Service Manager / Shop Owner

Position Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Automotive Diagnostic Technician to join our team. This role is ideal for a technician with deep expertise in diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues across a wide range of vehicles. Your precision and diagnostic accuracy will be essential in ensuring repairs are performed correctly the first time.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform advanced diagnostics on domestic, Asian, and European vehicles.
  • Analyze and interpret scan tool data, trouble codes, wiring diagrams, and OEM service information.
  • Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify root causes of issues.
  • Communicate findings and recommended repairs with service advisors and fellow technicians.
  • Document all work accurately and clearly.
  • Use and maintain up-to-date diagnostic equipment.
  • Ensure all repairs meet high standards for quality, safety, and reliability.
  • Follow shop procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and evolving vehicle technology.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in automotive diagnostics and repair.
  • ASE Certification(s) required (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).
  • Expert-level proficiency with diagnostic tools such as scan tools, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
  • In-depth knowledge of vehicle systems and electronic controls.
  • Ability to read and interpret factory service manuals, schematics, and technical bulletins.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
