Job description

Description:

With over 60 years of service to the community as the premier imaging center in Tallahassee, we continue to grow and thrive. We are seeking a MRI Technologist to join our team in a PRN capacity. This role is weekday-only and designed to provide coverage as needed, with the expectation that the selected candidate may be scheduled for any of the following shifts based on weekly staffing needs: 6:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., or 1:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m


General Duties:

  • Know and understand how to work all aspects of MR scanners and PACS system.
  • Read patient history forms to determine exam protocol and contraindications and assure that radiologist has proper history to assist in making a diagnosis. Confirm that all paperwork has been properly filled out and signed.
  • Keep Medical Assistants informed of any changes in normal procedures and when running behind schedule.
  • Assist front desk personnel with scheduling and help answer questions and concerns they may have when necessary.
  • Assist Medical Assistant when necessary with patient prep and set up. Perform IV access on MR patients, and assure that the informed consent form for Gadolinium injection has been properly filled out and signed.
  • Organization of MR patient workload.
  • Answer all questions and assist with concerns that the patient may have prior to, during, and/or after the MR Scan.
  • Explain procedures to patients in a clear and precise manner to guarantee the understanding of the procedure that they are having performed.
  • Fill out the incident reports related to Gadolinium reactions.
  • Have ability to call and inform MR service department of problems and arrange service calls and preventative maintenance.
  • Accurately record patient information on MR ledger.
  • Mark daily appointment book for arrival/no show of patients.
  • Monitor patient's vital signs during scanning when necessary.



Requirements:

Education:

Current certification of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging with the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. Must maintain ongoing continuing education requirements. Current CPR certification.


Experience:

2 years of previous MRI experience


Knowledge:

Knowledge of MR scan policies and protocols.

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology and clinical indications necessary to follow proper scanning protocols.


Skills

Skill in production of quality MR scans.

Ability to effectively care for patients.

Ability to maintain cooperative relations with interdepartmental personnel.
