The Machine Operator is responsible for operating machinery such as drill presses, saws, edge planer/router and other machinery. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Job Duties

  • Operate light machinery, including: brake presses, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and computer numerical control equipment (CNC).
  • Layout reference points and patterns on heavy metals according to the templates/blueprints.
  • Monitor quality of fabrication and production.
  • Sets up and operates heavy machine tools, such as: drill press, saws, edge planer/router and various other pieces of machinery/equipment.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements

  • A minimum high school education
  • Working experience in Metal Fabrication an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Previous experience using brake presses, shears, cutting torches, grinders, and computer numerical control equipment (CNC)
  • Manual Dexterity
  • Able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Working Conditions

  • Employee may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring protective equipment.
  • Employee may be exposed to dust, high temperatures and high levels of noise.
  • Employee may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings; may have long combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting.
  • Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment.

Must own reliable transportation and hold a valid driver's license.The starting wage for this position is dependent on experience and training.
