Job description

GRADE FOREMEN - HEAVY CIVIL CONSTRUCTION

Searching for high-quality, production-driven, experienced Grade Foremen for heavy civil projects in the Raleigh Regional Area. Grade Foreman must have experience successfully completing large sitework, earthwork and grading heavy civil projects, NCDOT, local specifications, blueprints, and survey staking. Manage a 2 to 4-employee crew while maintaining daily safety and production goals.

Job Duties/Grade Foreman:

  • Coordinates and supervises daily activities of a 2 – 4-person crew.
  • Utilizes heavy equipment to excavate grade, and prepare worksites
  • Work closely with Contractors and Sub-Contractors
  • Continually inspects the work site, surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
  • Responsible for crew safety. Establishes safe work environment that complies with the company safety program.
  • Reviews and approves employee time reporting.
  •  Must be able to climb on and off heavy mobile equipment safely.
  • Material delivery coordination and recording
  • Other Duties as Assigned

Work Experience, Attributes and/or Education Requirements:

  • Minimum two years Heavy Civil Foreman Experience Required
  • Read & interpret technical drawings
  • Shoot grades and understand layout designs and implementation of same
  • Ability to use instruments such as lasers, grade rods, eye levels, and transit levels to set appropriate grades for pipe installation
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively with a diverse workforce

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to perform essential job functions consistently safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
  • Frequently walk on uneven surfaces, including natural ground in varying weather conditions.
  • Capable be certified to enter confined spaces, including climbing into and out of excavations up to 15 feet in depth, using ladders or crawling, as required.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
