Job description

Ellwood Crankshaft Group is one of the world's leading manufacturers of crankshafts and eccentrics used in mechanical stamping presses, reciprocating air and gas compressors, reciprocating pumps, engines and other miscellaneous applications. ECG services the locomotive, marine, shipping, mechanical press, oil and gas and compression markets.
Today, ECG has four facilities throughout PA. We currently have an opening for a Heat Treat Operator I at the Sharon, PA facility. Candidates with a variety of experience will be considered and compensation will be related to experience. This hourly, non-exempt position will report to the Plant Manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with heat treat equipment preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem-solving abilities
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize between development projects and daily responsibilities
  • Must be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills, strong math skills
  • Must have the ability to successfully transfer knowledge and train others in best practices
  • Thorough understanding of our manufacturing processes
  • Understanding and ability to layout and stage parts as required
  • Desire for continuous improvement - ability to find better ways of doing things
  • Ability to work well with a team while also working independently
  • Preferred: Experience working with refractory materials and furnace rebuilding.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:
  • Assist with all furnace and product setups in accordance with product requirements and the heat treat schedule.
  • Perform other labor support functions for heat treat activities such as fork transfer setup, furnace survey setup, material handling, etc.
  • Operates overheard cranes and/or radio controlled cranes when and where required and/or assigned.
  • Operates automated guide vehicles (AGV's) under manual mode for material handling and fitment.
  • Maintains all reports and recordkeeping as required.
  • Performs routine preventative maintenance on all machines as required.
  • Maintains housekeeping in all work areas.
  • Performs all work in accordance with plant safety rules.
  • Maintains highest quality standards in the execution of all assigned work.
  • Assist in development of training procedures to be used to help train new operators in all aspects of systems operation and maintenance
  • Observes all safety rules and regulations and pro-actively leads safety improvements
  • Performs other routine labor work as assigned and as required in accordance with production flow and/or plant needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • This position will require occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds and frequent lifting of up to 30 pounds. This position will also require frequent sitting, standing, reaching and climbing. It will also include occasional walking, climbing, crawling and squatting. The physical demands for this job are Light-Medium.
