Job description

TopShelf is a growing custom apparel and promotional products company dedicated to delivering high-quality decorated apparel with exceptional customer service. We specialize in producing custom garments for businesses, schools, sports teams, nonprofits, events, and organizations. We are looking for a dependable and detail-oriented Heat Press Operator to join our production team. This role is responsible for operating Stahls' commercial heat press equipment to produce premium-quality custom apparel while maintaining accuracy, efficiency, and high production standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate Stahls' Hotronix and other commercial heat press equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Apply heat transfers, DTF transfers, heat transfer vinyl (HTV), names, numbers, logos, and specialty graphics to apparel.
  • Read and follow production work orders to ensure customer specifications are met.
  • Set proper temperature, pressure, and dwell times based on garment and transfer requirements.
  • Inspect garments prior to production for correct size, color, and style.
  • Verify artwork placement and alignment before pressing.
  • Perform quality inspections throughout production to ensure finished products meet company standards.
  • Fold, package, label, and prepare completed orders for shipping or customer pickup.
  • Maintain production efficiency while meeting daily output goals and deadlines.
  • Keep workstations clean, organized, and safe.
  • Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of heat press equipment.
  • Assist with inventory counts of garments, transfers, and production supplies.
  • Work closely with production, embroidery, screen printing, and fulfillment teams to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality control standards.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or production issues promptly.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience operating Stahls', Hotronix, Geo Knight, Insta, or similar commercial heat press equipment is preferred.
  • Experience in custom apparel production, screen printing, embroidery, DTF, DTG, or promotional products is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders and production instructions.
  • Basic computer skills for reviewing production schedules and job tickets.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and dependable with a strong work ethic.
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Stahls' Hotronix Heat Press systems.
  • Knowledge of heat transfer vinyl (HTV) and Direct-to-Film (DTF) applications.
