Job description

Flex Officer – Healthcare Security (Hospital Response Team)

  • Murrieta & Wildomar, CA Pay Range: $18.00–$21.00/hour (non-exempt; paid hourly)
  • Schedule: As Needed | All Shifts (Day/Swing/Grave)
  • Multiple worksites — reliable transportation required
  • Not a “warm body” post. This is hospital security.


As a Flex Officer, you’ll step into coverage gaps and high-activity assignments across our healthcare accounts. Your presence matters — you’re there to deter, detect, de-escalate, and document. The expectation is professionalism under pressure and calm, lawful decision-making in a clinical environment.


What You’ll Do (Essential Functions)

You’ll help maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff by:

· Maintaining high-visibility security presence to deter unsafe or illegal activity

· Screening visitors and supporting hospital protocols for entry and visitor management

· Maintaining access control (restricted areas, entrances, vehicle gates)

· Patrolling interior/exterior/perimeter (random and routine patrols)

· Monitoring CCTV, alarms, and security systems and operating emergency equipment when needed

· Responding to emergencies and calls for assistance

· Using approved de-escalation techniques during disorderly conduct and combative patient incidents

· Investigating disturbances and documenting facts clearly

· Completing Daily Activity Reports and Incident Reports with accuracy and timeliness

· Acting lawfully in defense of life and property within training, policy, and applicable law


Healthcare environments note- You may encounter behavioral health crises, emotional family situations, and emergent clinical activity. Professionalism and confidentiality are mandatory.


Flex Role Details

This is a fill-in and surge coverage position supporting hospital operations.

· You may be assigned to different posts and duties depending on operational needs

· Hours are not guaranteed (as-needed scheduling)

· Assignments may change with short notice based on call-offs, PTO, or client requests


Required Qualifications

· Valid California Guard Card (BSIS) (we do not provide guard card training)

· 1+ year security experience- Preferred

· Prior healthcare security experience - Preferred

· Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification- Preferred

· Two forms of government-issued ID (for employment eligibility verification)

· Strong communication skills and ability to remain professional in high-stress situations

· Ability to operate basic tech: radio, smartphone, keypad devices, reporting tools, CCTV interfaces

· Reliable transportation and ability to travel between Murrieta & Wildomar worksites

· Ability to work 4–12-hour shifts and remain alert/engaged throughout shift

Preferred (not required):

· Military or law enforcement background (Guard Card still required)

Because hospital security can involve rapid response and physical presence, the role requires:

· Ability to stand/walk for extended periods, climb stairs, and perform patrols

Pay, Breaks, and Legal Classifications
