Position Summary: Oversees daily security operations, supervises assigned personnel, and ensures the consistent delivery of safety, security, and customer service.

Responsibilities
You will conduct the following responsibilities, upholding HSS's commitment to safety and security while supporting the values and culture of the client and community.
  • Our Healthcare Security Officers are responsible for maintaining the security and safety of the hospital, its staff, and its patients and visitors - and serve as a visible deterrent to illegal activities on hospital property. Our Security Officers also provide supervision for at-risk patients in the hospital environment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education & Experience:
  • Completed High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain any applicable licenses or certifications
  • Strong vision abilities including color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for an entire work shift, move or lift objects up to 80 lbs., help restrain or lift a person
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet HSS a Tarian company's driving guidelines if applicable (for Driving Roles)

Desired Qualification of the Security Officer:
  • Previous work experience with the public in a service setting

Armed (Handgun) Qualifications:
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable local or state license or permit to carry a weapon
  • Ability to pass the initial and semi-annual HSS a Tarian company's approved firearms training course to demonstrate proficiency in use of firearm
  • Ability to participate and meet the requirements of additional firearms training at the discretion of the firearms instructor
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the HSS a Tarian company Firearms policies

TASER Qualifications:
  • Ability to meet qualification standards when initially placed in a TASER position and annually thereafter
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable local or state license or permit to carry a TASER
  • Ability to participate in and pass additional TASER training at the discretion of the TASER instructor
    and/or HSS a Tarian company
  • Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of the HSS a Tarian company's Conducted Energy Weapon (TASER), HSS a Tarian company's Taser Policy

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work hours will vary depending on assignments, client schedules, project deadlines, and the needs of the company. Workweeks may exceed 40 hours and may involve any of the 7 days of the week, depending on the needs of the business. The work environment may be fast-paced and stressful or may also be quiet and slow-paced. All environments and pace of work will require alertness and ability to perform under pressure.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to sit, stand, and walk for variable amounts of time throughout an assigned shift; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects 25 pounds or more. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Frequently engages in mental concentration, analysis, and formulation.
