Job Title: Nurse Recruiter

Location: Washington, DC (onsite)

Contract Duration: Contract until 11/30/2026 strong possible extension

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 8 hours/day


Description

The Nurse Recruiter is responsible for overseeing the full cycle recruitment process for nursing talent for the hospital. Working in coordination with facility HRD and CNO, the Nurse Recruiter Nurse has responsibilities which include, but are not limited to proactive sourcing, social recruitment, development of a talent pool, candidate maintenance, and talent acquisition. Identifies and attracts qualified nursing candidates through various channels, including job boards, career fairs, and social media platforms. The Nurse Recruiter provides leadership in analyzing the candidates' attributes to determine where they may best be utilized to align with the Hospital's strategic objectives. The Nurse Recruiter also tracks and reports accurate recruitment metrics on a weekly basis.

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or Health Care related field from an accredited educational institution required.

Experience:

Minimum of three years full-cycle recruitment experience within a healthcare, preferably acute care, setting.

Skills:

Proficiency with ATS, HRIS SharePoint, and Microsoft Office suite, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Experience with Social Media niche sites for the purpose of sourcing talent and building a talent pool.

Ability to build strong relationships with candidates and customers, resulting in fulfilling the talent acquisition needs.

Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities.

Excellent computer skills including advanced ATS proficiency, strong HRIS, MS Office, Power Point and Excel skills.

Good interpersonal skills.

Effective communications skills, both verbal and written.

Organized and detailed oriented.

Sensitivity in handling confidential information.

Demonstrated ability to develop recruitment plans and research and resolve complex recruitment issues.

License / Certification:

Current and active licensed RN or BSN preferred.

HR (SPHR, HRCI) or HR Specialty certification preferred.

CHCR (Certified Healthcare Recruiter) desired.

Travel Requirements:

Local and regional travel to job fairs, hiring events and educational institutions.

Essential Job Duties

1. Partners with HRD and Nursing Administration to develop, implement, and monitor candidate sourcing strategies.

Develops and implements a recruitment plan for nursing and other assigned positions to include recruitment of applicants through various resources such as colleges, universities, job fairs, career days, and hospital open houses. Identifies and manages relationships with targeted university nursing programs. Represents the hospital on-campus at job fairs, interview days, information sessions and other related events.

Develops local and national advertising plans to include print, internet, direct mail campaigns and other media communications.

Evaluates recruitments plans to ensure a quality pool of nursing applicants.

Recommends alternative recruitment strategies for hard to fill positions.

Develops annual travel plan and budget for job fairs, career days, specialty nursing organization meetings, and college visits; prepares reports on each trip including an evaluation and recommendation regarding future attendance.

2. Maintains a selection and interview system in accordance with state and federal laws, EEO Regulations and Hospital and Policies

Communicates HRD and CNO to remain informed of current and upcoming requisitions in an effort to fill positions in a timely manner.

Reviews job requisitions for accuracy and completeness. Posts open positions with appropriate approvals.

Reviews employment applications and internal transfer applications. Evaluates work history, education and training, job skills, compensation needs, and other qualifications of applicants

Interviews applicants utilizing behavioral based interview questions.

Informs applicants of job duties and responsibilities, compensation and benefits, work schedules and working conditions, company policies, promotional opportunities, bonus programs and other related information.

Refers best qualified screened applicants to hiring manager, according to established employment policies and procedures and relevant employment laws and regulations.

Performs reference checks and verifies licensure on applicants.

Makes offers of employment, transfers and promotions.

3. Develops and administers a total recruitment and employment recordkeeping systems that ensures professional services, compliance with regulations and meets Hospital and standards

Analyzes current workflow methods and recommends work simplification systems to streamline and expedite the recruitment process.

Utilizes full capabilities of the applicant tracking and ensures data integrity.

Provides weekly summary reports on nursing recruitment activities and vacancies.

Provides other reports or data analysis as requested.

4. Builds Relationships

Uses networking opportunities to identify quality active and passive nursing candidates.

Meets regularly with management team to discuss staffing needs.

Meets regularly with hiring managers/supervisors to ensure understanding of position and departmental requirements.

Acts as the primary liaison with external parties contracted to develop advertising/marketing campaigns for the recruitment of hard to fill nursing positions; evaluates the results of advertising and recommends changes when necessary; actively participates in the development and maintenance of recruitment/marketing brochures.

5. Cost Management

Notifies Director of non-budgeted expenses immediately.

Ensures agency fees are kept to a minimum.

Assist Director in development of annual recruitment budget.

6. Required Duties

Maintain Contractor files and ensures compliance with all hospital policies.

Schedules new hires for hospital orientation and pre-employment physical.

Ensures HR files for all new employees are complete before employee begins work.

Continuously assesses the retention rate of assigned departments and offers recommendations for the development of strategic plans/retention programs to Director of Human Resources.

Performs a variety of service and administrative tasks that are shareable by all so that the needs of the customer and fellow team members are met in a timely manner.

Train new managers/supervisors on applicant tracking system and the interview and selection process and procedures.
