Job description

Healthcare Construction Project ManagerLocation

Charleston, SC

Position Overview

Solid Rock Recruiting's long-term client is seeking an experienced Healthcare Construction Project Manager to lead a major $9M hospital project in Charleston beginning this September. This is a long-term opportunity for a construction professional who understands healthcare environments, drywall systems, and the coordination required to successfully execute complex medical projects.

This role will be heavily focused on project management, documentation, coordination, and communication — not tool work. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary on-site management presence supporting field operations, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, paperwork, and client/stakeholder communication.

This opportunity is designed to grow into a long-term leadership role within our expanding healthcare construction division, with additional hospital projects already in the pipeline.

Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations for a large healthcare construction project
  • Coordinate field activities with subcontractors and MEP trades
  • Oversee project documentation, reporting, RFIs, submittals, and change orders
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare construction standards and wall rating requirements
  • Coordinate specialized healthcare build components including MRI room assemblies and related systems
  • Serve as the primary communication point between field teams, ownership, and stakeholders
  • Work closely with onsite superintendents and field personnel to maintain schedule and quality standards
  • Utilize Procore and other project management software to track project progress and documentation
  • Assist in preconstruction planning and project mobilization prior to project start
Qualifications
  • 4+ years of drywall commercial construction experience preferred
  • Prior healthcare or hospital construction experience required
  • Experience with drywall systems and rated wall assemblies strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of coordination with mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades
  • Background as a Project Manager, Senior Superintendent, or General Superintendent considered
  • Ability to professionally communicate with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong administrative and documentation skills
  • Ability to work onsite full-time in a project trailer/office environment
Software RequirementsPreferred
  • On-Screen Takeoff
  • Procore
  • Change order management experience
  • General construction/project management software proficiency
Additional Information
  • Relocation assistance may be considered for the right candidate
  • Candidate will be brought onboard ahead of project start to assist with project setup and onboarding
  • Existing field personnel are already in place; this role will support both field execution and backend project coordination
  • Long-term growth opportunity within company's expanding healthcare construction division
