What is a healthcare informatics manager?

A Healthcare Informatics Manager is a professional who oversees the collection, management, and use of digital health information within healthcare organizations. They ensure that electronic health records (EHRs) and other health data systems are implemented and maintained effectively to improve patient care, streamline operations, and comply with regulations. These managers often collaborate with IT teams, clinicians, and administrators to optimize data flow, protect patient privacy, and support data-driven decision-making. Their role bridges the gap between healthcare and information technology to enhance overall healthcare delivery.

How does a healthcare informatics manager typically collaborate with clinical and IT teams to implement new health information systems?

Healthcare Informatics Managers play a pivotal role in bridging clinical staff and IT professionals when introducing or upgrading health information systems. They facilitate communication to ensure that new technologies meet both clinical workflow needs and technical requirements. This involves gathering feedback from clinicians, translating those needs into system specifications, and working closely with IT teams for configuration and troubleshooting. Successful collaboration ensures smooth adoption, minimizes disruptions in patient care, and supports compliance with healthcare regulations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a healthcare informatics manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Healthcare Informatics Manager, you need expertise in health information systems, data analysis, and healthcare regulations, typically supported by a degree in health informatics or a related field. Familiarity with EHR systems, data warehousing tools, and certifications such as Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) is highly valued. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills help you effectively bridge clinical, IT, and administrative teams. These skills are essential for optimizing data-driven healthcare delivery, ensuring compliance, and leading innovation in a complex healthcare environment.

Job description

About Us: WCD Global Inc. is a growing healthcare-focused company dedicated to providing quality medical products and exceptional service to healthcare professionals, pharmacies, medical facilities, and other organizations across Canada. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a customer-focused, results-driven Account Manager to own and grow our home health care retailer accounts: independent HHC/DME stores, mobility and durable medical equipment dealers, and related retail partners. The person in this seat needs to already understand how home health care retail works: product categories and how a store owner or clinical buyer thinks.Position Overview: The Account Manager will manage and grow relationships with our existing home health care retailer accounts, primarily virtually by phone, email, and video, while identifying opportunities to expand WCD's footprint within those accounts. The successful candidate will act as a trusted, knowledgeable point of contact who understands home health care product categories (mobility aids, bathroom safety, respiratory, incontinence, wound care) and can speak credibly to clinical use cases and retail operations. Part of that is knowing how to put WCD's sales tools, like sell sheets and planograms, in front of customers so they can use them to drive their own sell-through, not just quoting price and delivery.Job Type: Full-Time, PermanentSalary: $55,000/year + CommissionWork Location: Toronto, Ontario (TTC Accessible)Schedule: 8:30 am–5:00 pm, 40 hours/weekResponsibilities:Develop and maintain strong, long-term relationships with existing home health care retailer accounts, primarily by phone, email, and video, with less than 10% travel required.Manage and grow a portfolio of home health care accounts, serving as the primary point of contact.Understand each account's product mix (mobility, DME, bathroom safety, respiratory, incontinence, wound care) and purchasing patterns well enough to spot gaps and growth opportunities.Use sell sheets and other sales collateral on calls to introduce new products and support purchasing decisions.Identify opportunities to grow accounts through cross-selling, upselling, and new product introductions across WCD's home health care catalogue.Proactively follow up with customers on orders, quotations, back orders, and outstanding inquiries.Respond to customer inquiries by phone, email, and other channels in a timely, professional manner.Provide accurate product information, pricing, availability, and clinical/use-case context where relevant.Prepare and follow up on quotations and sales opportunities.Maintain accurate customer, sales, and account information in the company's CRM system.Track sales activity, customer interactions, opportunities, and follow-ups.Work closely with the Business Development and sales teams to support account growth and new store onboarding.Act as team lead and mentor for Business Development Reps (BDRs), providing guidance and support on accounts and sales approach. This is a mentorship role, not formal people management, no hiring, performance review, or compensation authority.Collaborate with internal teams to ensure orders and customer requirements are handled efficiently.Address customer concerns and drive them to timely, effective resolution.Meet or exceed established sales and account management targets.Perform other sales, customer service, and administrative duties as assigned.Requirements:Required: demonstrated experience in home health care, DME/mobility equipment, or medical supply retail, either in sales/account management or in a clinical role (e.g. OT, PT, RT, nursing) with direct home health care exposure. This is not an asset here, it's a condition of the role.Working knowledge of home health care product categories: mobility aids, bathroom safety, respiratory equipment, incontinence, wound care.Comfortable and effective building customer relationships virtually, by phone, email, and video, with minimal in-person contact.Travel: less than 20% required.Previous experience in account management, sales, or customer service in a related field.Strong relationship-building and account management skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Customer-focused with a strong commitment to providing exceptional service.Strong sales, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.Ability to manage multiple customer accounts and priorities effectively.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a sales team.Proficient with Microsoft Office and comfortable learning CRM and other business software. What We Offer:Competitive base salary plus Commission.Health Benefits.Paid Vacation Time.Hands-on experience in home health care distribution, medical sales, and customer service.Opportunity to grow within a developing sales team.Collaborative and professional work environment.WCD Global welcomes and encourages applications from people with disabilities.
