• Conduct thorough mental health assessments and evaluations for elderly clients to identify specific emotional and psychological needs.
• Facilitate individual and group therapy sessions, employing a range of therapeutic techniques to address issues such as grief, anxiety, isolation, and transitions associated with aging.
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement personalized care plans that reflect the holistic needs of geriatric clients.
• Provide education and resources to family members and staff on coping mechanisms, effective communication, and mental wellness strategies tailored for seniors.
• Deliver specialized grief and loss counseling for clients and their families dealing with end-of-life issues, helping them navigate emotional hardships with compassion and skill.
• Design and implement cognitive stimulation programs and mental health interventions that encourage mental acuity and engagement among elderly individuals.

Your work will primarily focus on the elderly population, requiring an understanding of the specific mental health challenges they face, such as complex grief, depression, and the psychological impacts of chronic illnesses and age-related changes. The goal is to foster resilience and enhance the quality of life for our senior clients by addressing their unique emotional and mental health needs.

• A Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling or a related field from an accredited institution.
• A valid Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) credential.
• At least 3 years of recent experience delivering counseling services, with a focus on geriatric mental health.
• Demonstrated understanding of evidence-based counseling techniques relevant to the elderly demographic.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with elderly patients.
• Expertise in cultural sensitivity, allowing for empathetic interactions with diverse patient backgrounds.

• Additional certifications or training specifically related to geriatric mental health.
