Job description

The New Mexico VA Healthcare System is recruiting for a Health Technician (HT) located in the Behavioral Health Care Line (BHCL) Outpatient Clinics. The purpose of the position is to provide medical, psychiatric, and administrative support assistance in the Outpatient Mental Health (OMH), Psychiatry Primary Care (PPC), Neuromodulation Clinic (NMC), and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) clinics by performing technical and administrative tasks with the goal of providing excellent care for Veterans.Qualifications:To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
This position has an Individual Occupation Requirement (IOR). You must meet the following:
  • Possess technician experience that requires application of knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. (This position is part of the series that ranges widely in type and includes support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists.)
In addition to meeting the IOR above, you must meet the experience as described below:GS-06: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: setting up equipment for procedures; performing personal patient care; and utilizing an automated system to enter and retrieve patient data.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
