Job Summary:

 Under the direction of the location EHS Manager, the Health & Safety Engineer will support the daily health and safety functions for the Kawneer facility in Bloomsburg, PA. The Health & Safety Engineer is accountable for ensuring that Health and Safety activities reduce risk, eliminate incidents, and are performed within external regulatory requirements and internal management guidelines. 

You have: (required) 

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 1 year of professional experience in Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications 
        

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, Industrial Hygiene, or Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in Health and Safety in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous Occupational Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience implementing and maintaining Health & Safety programs
  • Industrial Hygiene experience
  • Experience with Behavior Based Safety programs
  • Experience with Ergonomic assessments
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
In this role, you will:
  • Develop and sustain systems to drive compliance, fatality prevention and injury reduction.
  • Act as key health and safety liaison with location manufacturing, maintenance & engineering departments to assistance in the execution of their strategic and tactical health and safety plans.
  • Analyze injury and incident data and assist line management in the implementation of focused injury reduction efforts.
  • Provide expertise to proactively address injury reduction efforts.
  • Provide technical expertise and participate in injury / incident investigations to assist in identifying root cause analysis and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Assume leadership of the location's industrial hygiene program including execution of IH sampling plans, the administration of IH databases and employee exposure records and hazardous material management.
  • Serve as a resource for the location's industrial ventilation SPA to ensure IH exposure levels are maintained at acceptable levels.
  • Select and manage PPE requirements.
  • Assist with the completion of designated health and safety ASAT audit protocols and overall process.
  • Maintain working knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety regulations and identify all requirements that apply or may apply to the facility.
  • Develop, review and facilitate Health & Safety related training.
  • Assess, evaluate, eliminate / minimize risks collaboratively with employees using technical knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
  • Assist in investigations of health and safety incidents, root cause analysis, entry into databases and item closure tracking.
  • Coordinate the development of systems to ensure metrics are accurate and timely per Arconic guidelines.
  • Assist in implementing Human Performance systems.
  • Participate in continuing professional education, staying current and competent in the respective Health & Safety profession through seminars, courses, literature review, etc.
