Job description

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic candidate for its Adjunct Health Information Management Technology Instructor - HIMT (Part-Time) position in the Health and Public Safety Technology department of the Academic & Student Affairs Division.  This position is located on Atlanta Technical College's Main campus, just South of downtown Atlanta, Ga.  

Under general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technologies, the Adjunct Health Information Management Technology (HIMT) Instructor will be a part-time (adjunct) faculty member that teaches in the Health Information Management Technology program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a commitment to helping students develop essential computer skills.  This position involves creating and delivering engaging lessons, assessing student progress, and contributing to the overall success of the students.  Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis, up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.

Duties and responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

       Develop and deliver course content in alignment with the curriculum.

       Provide Instruction on health Information systems, medical coding, data analytics and healthcare compliance.

  • Evaluate student performance through assignments, exams and projects.
  • Stay updated on industry in achieving their goals academic and career goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and grades.
  • Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for credited technical/ occupational courses.
  • Assist with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.

       Provide student advisement.

  • Complete no-show reporting in a timely manner.
  • Attend meetings, and perform other duties of service to the college and academic program; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

        Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products.

        Excellent written and verbal communication skills. organization and planning skills.

        Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

  • A degree in Health Information Management Technology- RHIT -Registered Information Technology and /or RHIA
  • Registered Health Information Administrator.
  • Experience in teaching or training in a healthcare or academic setting
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Use of Learning Platforms
  • Prior teaching experience in computer literacy or related subjects. Experience in a technical college setting is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Master's Degree
  • RHA / RHT Credentials
  • Four (4) or more years of experience in teaching or training in a healthcare or academic setting.
