Job Summary:
The EHR Support Analyst will apply knowledge of informatics to assist in the design, development, implementation, and ongoing modification of computerized health care systems. This role supports clinical and operational departments across the organization, including Pharmacy services, with responsibility for optimizing workflows, supporting end users, and maintaining Epic EHR applications, including Epic Willow. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Works closely with departments to optimize workflows through system implementations, enhancements, upgrades, and onboarding, including pharmacy and medication related workflows.
  • Trains employees on systems and best practices, including pharmacy staff and end users utilizing Epic Willow functionality.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Expert and liaison to IT for assigned areas; provides daily support to EHR application users, including pharmacy users, and maintains system setup via ticket maintenance and resolution.
  • Follows through to ensure final resolution of problems, recommending longer term solutions when appropriate and communicating back to the individual reporting the issue.
  • Translates identified workflow gaps into documented tickets and collaborates with internal IT teams and vendors to resolve issues.
  • Facilitates two way communication between Information Technology (IT) and operational departments, including Pharmacy, to ensure shared understanding of system capabilities and limitations.
  • Participates in the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for assigned application areas.
  • Applies experiential and informatics knowledge to deploy new system implementations and functionalities, including Epic Willow enhancements, and evaluates system utilization to optimize workflows.
  • Supports health information systems that enhance quality, patient safety, efficiency, population health, and patient engagement, with attention to medication safety and regulatory compliance.
  • Designs, tests, implements, and evaluates new or modified informatics solutions, data structures, and decision support tools.
  • Documents current workflows to establish baselines for future optimization.
  • Attends and participates in meetings, trainings, continuing education, and other activities as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • General knowledge of the healthcare industry, informatics, and patient care.
  • Working knowledge of pharmacy workflows and medication management processes preferred.
  • Experience supporting or working within Epic EHR, with Epic Willow exposure preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and documentation skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate or higher degree in Health Informatics, Pharmacy, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience supporting pharmacy workflows or pharmacy information systems in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting EHR systems (Epic preferred) in ambulatory, clinical, or operational environments.

Other Requirements:

  • New Hires are required to pass pre-employment background check and drug testing (effective 11/1/2022).
  • Satisfactory completion of required training from EHR vendor within 2 months of start date. Timely and satisfactory completion of any training or certification as determined by leader.
  • Valid and current driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
