Job Summary
This is the entry level position on the Michigan Medicine CRC Career Ladder. Assist with a study examining driving behaviors as potential markers of cognitive decline in older adults. The candidate will assist with all aspects of the study design including recruitment, assisting with setting up driving equipment, running a driving simulator, administering cognitive tests, data base management and assistance with materials needed for presentations and manuscripts.
Responsibilities*

5. Study and Site Management
6. Data Management and Informatics

The research assistant will support all aspects of the research process including:
  • Administer neuropsychological measures
  • Assist with running a driving simulator and other driving related equipment
  • Subject recruitment
  • Database management and analysis
  • Able to operate in a semi-independent manner to assist in clinical research and related projects

Required Qualifications*
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of or experience with database creation, management and analysis procedures is expected.
  • Candidates must have demonstrable knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and preferably statistical analysis packages such as SAS and SPSS or other research laboratory programs.

Desired Qualifications*
  • Associate Degree in public health, psychology, or social work or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.
  • Proficiency in test administration and scoring is preferred but not required.
  • Strong clinical skills and superior verbal and written communication are desired.
  • Experience in working with both older adults and children are preferred.
  • Experience working with older adults and a medical population is beneficial.

Modes of Work
Positions that are eligible for hybrid or mobile/remote work mode are at the discretion of the hiring department.

Work Schedule
This position will be five days a week from 8-4:30 PM.
Additional Information
This will be a 1 year, term-limited appointment that runs through 5/31/2027. At the end of the stated term, your appointment will terminate, and will not be eligible for Reduction-in-Force (RIF) benefits. This term-limited appointment does not create a contract or guarantee of employment for any period of time as you will remain subject to disciplinary or other performance measures, up to and including termination, at the will of the University in accordance with existing University policy and standards for employee performance and conduct.
Background Screening
Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.
In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
