We're currently hiring a Health Analyst, Oncology

This position will provide management, analytical, and research support services to the National Cancer Institute's Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, supporting the Surveillance Research Program (SRP), which advances research on the processes and effects of communication and informatics across the cancer control continuum. SRP is within the National Cancer Institute's (NCI) Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences (DCCPS).

As a Health Analyst, Oncology, you will:

  • Manage scientific engagement and analytics projects for SRP, including support for research and maintaining tumor registry-related activities
  • Support strategic planning and program development initiatives while providing clear guidance regarding assessment activities and scientific engagement efforts
  • Liaise with SRP groups regarding partnership meetings, including organizing stakeholder engagement activities and tracking actions and deliverables
  • Assist with registry operations and support data quality and reporting activities related to oncology and cancer surveillance programs
  • Conduct basic data analysis using spreadsheets and user-friendly analytical applications to support program reporting and decision-making
  • Examine methods for studying patterns and processes and contribute to research and evaluation activities
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support outreach goals

As a Health Analyst, Oncology, you will have:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, communications, public health, research, oncology data management, or a related field or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience in public health, healthcare administration, oncology data management, cancer research, or related field.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience working with a cancer registry or exposure to registry rules and operations
  • Must be eligible to sit for the Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification exam and obtain certification within a 3 month timeframe after hire.
  • Candidate must reside in the U.S., be authorized to work in the U.S., and perform all work in the U.S.
  • Able to obtain and maintain NCI Security Badging.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) certification.
  • Master's degree in healthcare administration, communications, public health, research, oncology data management, or a related field

Professional Skills

  • Mid-level data analysis and statistical skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets and user-friendly data analysis tools
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables
  • Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn new systems and applications
  • Experience supporting partnerships and outreach efforts with surveillance and public health stakeholders
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to effectively collaborate early and often with team members and partners, as well as the capability to produce work product independently when required
  • Comfort working in a remote environment
