Job description

Position Summary

MAD Engine Global, LLC is seeking a strategic, results-driven, and visionary Vice President of Sales – Mass Retail Channels to lead and accelerate growth across the company's Mass Retail business. This executive leadership role is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies, expanding key retail partnerships, driving revenue and profitability, and overseeing a high-performing sales organization focused on major national retailers.

The Vice President of Sales will serve as a key member of the leadership team, partnering closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Design, Licensing, Sourcing, Operations, Finance, and Marketing to develop long-term growth strategies and deliver exceptional results. This individual will be responsible for managing strategic customer relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and ensuring operational excellence across all Mass Retail Channel accounts.

The ideal candidate possesses strong retail expertise, executive-level relationship management skills, a proven track record of driving profitable growth, and extensive experience leading large-scale sales organizations within apparel, consumer products, licensed products, or related industries.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Development

  • Develop and execute the overall sales strategy for the Mass Retail Channels business, aligning with company objectives and growth initiatives.
  • Lead long-term business planning, customer development strategies, and revenue growth initiatives across key retail accounts.
  • Identify new business opportunities, market expansion initiatives, and strategic partnerships to drive sustainable growth.
  • Establish annual sales objectives, revenue targets, profitability goals, and performance metrics.
  • Evaluate market trends, consumer insights, competitive activity, and emerging opportunities to inform business strategy.
  • Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute company-wide growth initiatives and strategic priorities.
  • Represent MAD Engine at executive-level customer meetings, industry events, and strategic business engagements.


Customer & Account Leadership

  • Own executive relationships with key Mass Retail customers, including Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Meijer, Ross, Burlington, TJX, Academy, and other strategic retail partners.
  • Lead high-level negotiations involving pricing, terms, promotional investments, assortment strategies, and long-term business agreements.
  • Drive customer growth through strategic planning, category expansion, and collaborative business development.
  • Conduct executive business reviews and develop customer-specific growth strategies.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and responsiveness while maintaining strong alignment with company objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to increase market share, strengthen customer partnerships, and improve overall business performance.


Financial Management & Profitability

  • Own revenue, profitability, margin, and sales performance across the Mass Retail Channels business.
  • Develop annual sales budgets, forecasts, and financial plans in partnership with Finance and Planning teams.
  • Monitor business performance through KPI reporting, customer scorecards, forecasting, and profitability analysis.
  • Evaluate promotional investments, pricing strategies, and assortment plans to maximize financial returns.
  • Drive accountability for achieving sales goals while maintaining healthy margins and operational efficiency.
  • Identify and mitigate business risks while developing action plans to address performance challenges.


Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with Merchandising, Product Development, Design, Licensing, Sourcing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Marketing teams to ensure successful execution of customer programs.
  • Align product strategies and assortment planning with customer needs and market trends.
  • Partner with Operations and Supply Chain teams to support inventory management, forecasting accuracy, and service-level performance.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment on key customer initiatives, launches, promotions, and seasonal programs.
  • Champion collaboration and communication across all departments to drive organizational success.


Team Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing sales organization focused on Mass Retail Channels.
  • Establish clear goals, expectations, and accountability measures for sales leadership and team members.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain top sales talent while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide coaching and leadership development opportunities to strengthen organizational capabilities.
  • Drive process improvements, operational efficiencies, and best practices across the sales organization.
  • Contribute to succession planning and organizational growth initiatives.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Merchandising, Finance, or related field required; MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive sales leadership experience within apparel, consumer products, licensed products, wholesale, or related industries.
  • 5+ years of executive-level leadership experience managing major Mass Retail accounts and sales teams.
  • Proven track record of driving significant revenue growth and managing large-scale retail partnerships.
  • Extensive experience working with national Mass Retail accounts including Walmart, Target, Kohl's, Meijer, Ross, Burlington, TJX, Academy, and similar retailers.
  • Strong understanding of retail operations, merchandising processes, replenishment systems, planning functions, and omnichannel strategies.
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams and influencing organizational decision-making.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing budgets, forecasts, and profitability metrics.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in retail analytics, forecasting, and business planning tools.


Preferred Experience

  • Experience within licensed apparel, entertainment, consumer products, home goods, or related industries.
  • Established executive-level relationships within major Mass Retail buying and merchandising organizations.
  • Experience managing complex licensing and branded product businesses.
  • Strong understanding of evolving consumer trends, digital commerce, and omnichannel retail strategies.
