Environmental, Health, Safety & Training Manager

Island Resources, Inc. (ISP Technologies Inc.) invites qualified candidates to join our Ashland, Texas City manufacturing plant as an Environmental, Health, Safety & Training Manager. This role reports to the site manager and is essential to the safety, health and environmental performance of the plant.

Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the overall safety, health, regulatory, and environmental performance of the plant.
  • Conduct risk & hazard assessments.
  • Manage and implement several projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and a thorough understanding of EHS regulatory structure and requirements, Responsible Care management systems, and company requirements.
  • Lead, implement, and measure plant-specific, company, and/or regulatory EHS program elements & performance indicators.
  • Conduct root cause analyses, identify corrective actions, and utilize incident management systems to improve site and employee safety.
  • Identify, develop, and facilitate EHS-related training materials and topics.
  • Communicate verbal and written messages clearly and appropriately for the intended audience.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of current software systems, i.e., SAP, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Persuade or convince others to support an idea, agenda, direction, or initiative by establishing credibility, using data, and/or exercising other appropriate methods.
  • Build and sustain working relationships and an effective team with people of diverse cultural identities, styles, and functional responsibilities at all levels, including hourly workers.
  • Plan, prioritize, and organize work effectively to produce measurable long-term and short-term results.
  • Provide "actionable" feedback to employees to improve the overall performance of the team.
  • Make complex decisions based upon a mixture of analysis, knowledge, experience, and judgment.
  • Contribute to the organizational goals by taking initiative, executing personal goals, and focusing on performance and safety.
  • Improve organizational capacity and capabilities by building collaborative relationships, optimizing diverse talent, and using positive communication and influence with others.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science or comparable degree in Industrial Safety, Environmental Science, or other related technical degree (i.e., Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, etc.).
  • Minimum ten yearsโ€™ total experience in industrial safety, environmental, and regulatory in a manufacturing or distribution setting, of which five years must be in safety and environmental management.
  • Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment, including hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, or other equipment as needed.
  • Ability to walk the entire manufacturing site, climb stairs, bend, kneel, or extend reach, depending on the task required.
  • Work in an office or plant setting, with frequent visits to operational areas for troubleshooting, delivering urgent messages, or conducting safety and environmental compliance audits.
  • Travel may be required within the US.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Safety certifications required by current regional or country regulations.
  • Prior emergency response team leadership experience.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies, including license or permit applications.
  • Production and/or maintenance supervisory experience preferred.
