Job description

 If you are looking for something with a flexible schedule! This position is for you.  We are hiring for a Per Diem Maintenance Technician!!

Who We Are 

Messiah Lifeways is a non-profit organization located in Mechanicsburg, PA, that provides a network of services for adults, 55 and better living in South Central PA. Our roots trace back to 1896, when the Brethren in Christ Church founded Messiah Home in Harrisburg, PA, to serve older adults with Christ-like love. 

Who You Are 

The maintenance technician supports the ongoing maintenance and repair of Messiah Lifeways’ buildings, systems, and equipment. This role ensures that maintenance operations are performed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.  

To be successful in this role, you’ll need to have knowledge of/experience in the following: 

  • Strongly proficient maintenance repair skills – building equipment, appliances, electrical systems, plumbing systems, etc. 

  • Proficient technology skills - Office Suite (Microsoft) and work order management technology 

  • Proficient interpersonal skills - Able to communicate effectively, representing the organization in a professional and engaging manner 

Ideal candidates would be looking for a flexible schedule to support staffing gaps with a Monday through Friday schedule, allowing them to use their gained maintenance experience to support the residents of Messiah Lifeways.

What You’ll Do 

  • Maintain and/or repair and trouble-shoot kitchen equipment, air handlers, appliances, electrical systems, plumbing systems and fixtures, door/window/and associated hardware repair. 

  • Apply general and home mechanical repair and maintenance practices. 

  • Work with and install plumbing lines, PVC, PEX, CPVC, and copper. 

  • Know how to use an electrical meter to troubleshoot electrical issues and have the ability to replace general electrical items. 

  • Regularly interacts with the work order system and adheres to work order documentation and completion standards.

What Else You’ll Need 

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent 

  • Valid driver’s license  

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a maintenance, trade-oriented, or mechanical role (preferred but not required)
