Job description

OUR STORY

Everything But The House (EBTH) is a revolutionary marketplace, making it easier to find or sell secondhand goods, headquartered in Cincinnati, OH. EBTH was born out of a passion for helping people via a full-service approach to consignment; revolutionizing how homeowners, estate managers, dealers and collectors connect with a world of shoppers seeking rare and wonderful things. Each day the global auction platform unleashes an ever-changing assortment of art, jewelry, fashion, collectibles, antiques and more, all with a starting bid of $1.

We are seeking a Head of Operations who will act as the leader, strategic planner, and resource manager for our operations and processing teams in Cincinnati, OH. As a dynamic company, we move fast and seek to continuously improve. While this is a highly demanding and critical position, you’ll be surrounded by a passionate team dedicated to drastically changing the way personal property is sold, bought, and moved across the country—and we have a lot of fun while doing it.

Core Areas of Oversight
  • Processing & Production: Direct operations leadership to optimize high-volume cataloging, photography, and authentication workflows.
  • Merchandising & Inventory: Oversee the scheduling of items to maximize value, accelerate inventory turnover, and meet distinct line-of-business goals.
  • Specialized Categories: Provide strategic oversight of the Jewelry & Watches division, focusing on strict authentication standards, inventory management, and market-leading curation.
  • Security, Facilities & Loss Prevention: Protect EBTH assets, employee safety, and high-value inventory through rigorous physical security, risk protocols, and facility compliance.
Duties and Responsibilities Strategic Operational Leadership
  • Vision & Roadmap: Define, establish, and execute the long-term operational roadmap and strategic direction to support EBTH's growth, material efficiency, and the "EBTH Promise" of quality and trust.
  • Organizational Design: Drive organizational design, ensuring the processing and operations teams are structured for maximum throughput, scalable workflow, and clear accountability.
  • Policy & Infrastructure: Identify, recommend, and implement new processes, emerging technologies, and operations-related policies to streamline resources and protect assets.
  • Team Development: Directly manage, mentor, and train management-level staff, providing constructive performance evaluations and cultivating leadership depth.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Revenue Alignment
  • Sales & Intake Alignment: Serve as the primary partner to the Sales organization to ensure processing capacity seamlessly aligns with incoming intake forecasts and client expectations.
  • Financial Accountabilities: Establish, administer, and manage budgets, optimize labor costs, and approve cost-control reports/estimates for critical projects.
  • Tech & Marketing Integration: Partner with Marketing and Tech departments to implement internal and external tools that improve the overall seller and buyer experience.
Data-Driven Performance & Risk Management
  • Analytics Mastery: Leverage Looker, Salesforce, and operational metrics to track trends in efficiency, and item economics.
  • Executive Reporting: Present periodic, high-level performance reports and operational KPIs to the executive leadership team.
  • Risk Mitigation: Oversee the operational risk management framework, including safety regulation compliance, facility protocols, credit analysis, and customer service escalations.
Who You Are (Required Skills & Abilities)
  • The Experienced Leader: You possess 10+ years of progressive leadership in operations, logistics, supply chain, or marketplace management—ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth retail or e-commerce environment. You have at least 5 years of dedicated experience in upper/executive management.
  • The Strategic Collaborator: You have a proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate seamlessly with Sales, Technology, Finance, and Executive leadership to drive unified corporate objectives.
  • The Analytical Thinker: You live in the data. You have deep analytical and problem-solving skills, utilizing metrics to proactively solve complex logistical bottlenecks before they impact revenue.
  • The Culture Champion: You thrive in a dynamic, "uncommon" environment, possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and lead with transparency, accountability, and a healthy sense of humor.
  • Technical & Organizational Precision: You feature excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency with Google Suite, Salesforce, Looker, or related systems.
Education Requirements
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or an industry-related field.
  • Preferred: Master of Business Administration (MBA).
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

We are not providing relocation for this position and are only accepting applications for candidates who are located in the Greater Cincinnati area.

EBTH is an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity. All qualified individuals are encouraged to apply.

Applicants must be authorized to work lawfully in the United States for EBTH. EBTH does not provide sponsorship at this time.
