Job description

Your Contribution 

As a Purchasing Manager - Head of Project Purchasing reporting to the Head of Purchasing - NA, you will work as a business partner within project teams, project buying assures that external material costs are optimal to enable MAHLE's competitiveness in the market.  The material must be provided to the project on time and at the requested quality. All project purchasing related topics for BU1 products, within the region of NA are under the responsibility of the Job holder.

This role is responsible to:

  • Target the definition, achievement and reporting of Project Purchasing KPI's (e.g. projects, assurance of acquisition, project commitments in the development phase.)
  • Mentor and coach, personnel capacity and qualification planning for project buyers located in Farmington Hills and Mexico. Conduct annual performance reviews for employees. Develop annual Goals and Objectives.
  • Responsible for the project objectives regarding timelines, quality and target prices are achieved.
  • Responsible for regional and global projects are coordinated between regions.
  • Provide feedback to regional commodity buying and lead buying about supplier performance during the project phase.
  • Participation and approval of customer quotes for the Project buying scope (MSP- approval for material cost)
  • Responsible and support IPCO Tech activities in project and series.
  • Ensuring the PDP process and methods is followed: eg. Supplier panel/bidder list alignment, RFQ process in Jaggaer, quotation analysis, TRM, Feasibility, Critical component list, SDC and APQP/PPAP.

Your Experience & Qualifications 

  • Bachelor of Science in technical discipline or bachelor's degree in business
  • 7+ years' experience in a purchasing, quality, or manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of quality and purchasing fundamentals, mechanical refrigeration systems, automotive heating and air conditioning, and engine cooling.
  • Must have good understanding of quality and statistical process control techniques as well as basic manufacturing processes such as light assembly, metal working, electronics assembly, rubber and plastic molding.
