Position Title: Assistant Coach, Cross Country and Track - Director of Operations

Position Summary: This position is responsible for assisting the Head Coach in the general leadership of the men's and women's cross country/track and field teams. This position will have the primary role of Director of Operations which includes coaching, scheduling practices, conditioning, and recruiting. The employee is expected to conduct all assigned tasks in a manner that supports program compliance with NCAA, MIAA, and Washburn University policies, rules, and regulations.

Essential Functions:
Assist with coaching and developing the skills of Washburn Track and Field athletes.
Provide individual and group coaching and guidance to assist with running practices, workouts, and meets.
Responsible for planning team travel, organizing team meals, and home meet administration, which includes organizing officials and volunteers.
Assist the head coach with the operation of home meets; tracking the academic progress and success of recruits and current student athletes; and assist in the coordination of fundraising, camps, clinics, and special events.
Attends conferences and workshops, and researches publications, etc., to remain apprised of University, MIAA, and NCAA rules and regulations.
Performs additional job-related duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Experience coaching and/or participating in cross country and/or track.
Demonstrated effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record under Washburn's standards.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree.
Collegiate participation in cross country and/or track.

Exempt, Full-time    
Background check and driving history are required.
