About the Role

We're looking for aย Head of Peopleย to lead and execute our People strategy across the United States and Canada. This is aย hands-on, individual contributor leadership roleย - you will set the strategy and also execute it. There is no job too small.

You will own theย full employee lifecycle, from hiring through exit, while building scalable, data-driven People programs that support our next phase of growth. You will partner closely with leadership while remaining deeply involved in day-to-day execution.

This role is ideal for someone who has experience in a scaling environment, is highly operational, data-driven, and excited to roll up their sleeves to build and run a high-functioning People organization.


What You'll OwnEmployee Experience & Programs
  • Own and execute onboarding programs for employees in the US and Canada
  • Design and run employee engagement initiatives, surveys, and recognition programs
  • Own performance management cycles end-to-end, including timelines, communication, and execution
  • Own the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, development, role changes, and offboarding
  • Continuously improve employee experience using feedback and data

Cross-Border HR Compliance
  • Own HR policies and ensure adherence to US federal/state and Canadian provincial employment standards
  • Maintain employee records, documentation, and compliance requirements across both countries
  • Coordinate with legal and payroll providers on employment agreements, policy updates, and terminations
  • Own and update employee handbooks and internal policy documentation

People Operations
  • Own employee benefits programs in both the US and Canada
  • Manage employee leave programs (FMLA, provincial leave standards, etc.)
  • Partner with Finance to coordinate payroll processes with external providers
  • Own HRIS accuracy, employee data integrity, and reporting
  • Ensure People systems, workflows, and documentation are scalable and up to date

Talent & Hiring Operations
  • Own recruiting operations, including interview coordination, candidate experience, and offer execution
  • Partner with leadership on headcount planning and organizational design
  • Maintain and evolve job descriptions, leveling frameworks, and organizational records
  • Ensure a high-quality, consistent hiring process as the company scales

Manager & Employee Support
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on People-related topics
  • Support and coach managers through performance management and employee relations
  • Own talent reviews and performance calibration processes
  • Ensure consistent application of People policies and practices across the company

What We're Looking For
  • 7+ years of People Operations or HR experience
  • Experience supporting employees in both the US and Canada
  • Experience scaling a company or team in a high-growth environment (bonus for scaling from ~40 to 100+ employees)
  • Strong working knowledge of US multi-state employment law and Canadian employment standards
  • Proven ability to operate as a hands-on IC while setting strategy
  • Strong data orientation and experience using metrics to drive decisions
  • Experience running performance management and talent review processes
  • Highly operational, detail-oriented, and comfortable executing day-to-day work
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, scaling SaaS environment
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner cross-functionally

US - Tier 1
$140,000 - $165,000 USD

US - Tier 2
$130,000 - $150,000 USD

US - Tier 3
$115,000 - $135,000 USD

Canada - Tier 1

$100,000 - $120,000 CAD

Leveling & Location:

Thanx uses structured internal levelling and location-based compensation. Final levelling and compensation are determined through the interview process based on experience, scope, and work location, and any offer will align with the appropriate range.
