This includes patent license administration, royalty reporting, and royalty distributions to patent holders. This role works closely with Royalty Services Managers, Licensing, Program Management, Legal, Business Development, IT, Finance, and Accounting to achieve departmental and Company goals and deliver a high level of customer service. This position will report to the VP of Finance.To excel in this role, strong leadership, customer service management, communication, collaboration, and analytical skills are critical. The Head of Royalty Services must partner effectively with internal leaders, support alignment across functions, and meet internal customer needs. This hybrid role is required to work in the Denver office three days per week, Tuesday through Thursday.**Key Responsibilities*** Lead and develop the Royalty Services department, providing strategic and operational leadership for the team. Establish clear goals, priorities, performance expectations, and accountability while fostering a culture of communication, collaboration, responsiveness, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.* Oversee royalty operations and financial performance, including billing, royalty reporting, royalty allocations, revenue forecasting, and budgeting. Ensure work is accurate, timely, efficient, and compliant with established policies, procedures, internal controls, and SOC 1 requirements.* Oversee licensee reporting, customer service, compliance, ensuring royalty reports and payments are received and processed timely. Provide direction on delinquent accounts, payment arrangements, compliance issues, and escalations, while ensuring licensees, patent holders, and internal customers receive timely, professional, and solutions-oriented responses.* Manage the tax certificate process, ensuring timely collection, review, validation, and maintenance of required tax documentation for licensees. Establish processes and controls to monitor certificate status, address deficiencies, and minimize tax-related risks and payment delays.* Establish and manage department KPIs and performance metrics to measure operational effectiveness, including billing and reporting timeliness, accuracy, customer response times, workload, and service levels. Regularly evaluate results, address performance gaps, and communicate key trends, risks, and opportunities to the VP of Finance and senior leadership.* Drive process improvement and operational excellence by proactively identifying inefficiencies, recurring issues, and opportunities to improve processes, systems, technology, and team workflows. Lead initiatives that improve efficiency, accuracy, scalability, controls, and the overall customer experience, ensuring improvements are properly documented and implemented.* Support existing and future revenue programs, partnering with the President, Business Development, Program Management, Licensing, and other leaders to evaluate business opportunities, develop operational processes, implement new revenue programs, and ensure Royalty Services is prepared to support organizational growth.* Build strong cross-functional relationships with the offices of the President and General Counsel, Licensing, Program Management, Global Compliance, IT, Accounting, and other internal stakeholders. Serve as a trusted business partner and subject matter expert, providing timely communication, sound analysis, and effective solutions to operational and business issues.* Develop and maintain a high-performing team, providing coaching, feedback, training, and ongoing performance management.
