Job description

QUALIFICATIONS:

A valid CDL Class A Commercial Driver's License with all endorsements as required by the Company. Must have a clean driving record with no moving violations within the last 3 years, with a minimum of 3 years over the road or local driving experience or other criteria acceptable to the Company. Must be able to pass and continuously maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical which is issued in accordance with all regulations and recommendations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, pass and approved DOT drug screen and hair follicle test (HFT) and agree to post-accident, random and suspicion-based drug testing. Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain all required local, state and Federal approvals to be certified as a CDL Examiner. Must hold a high school diploma, GED or higher, and demonstrate the ability to effectively communicate using verbal/non-verbal and written skills. Must demonstrate physical, intellectual and leadership ability to perform the duties outlined within this job description.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

During the administration of the CDL examination CDL examiners are considered quasi-state employees and are responsible for administering the CDL exams as prescribed by applicable state and Federal regulations, policies and procedures as well as policies and procedures established by the Company.
Responsible for ensuring the safe driving and operation of testing equipment during exam and authorized to take over the controls of the test equipment if in the CDL Examiner's opinion the vehicle is being driven in an unsafe manner or at any time immediately in order to avoid an accident.
Responsible for maintaining the reliability and integrity of the CDL exams to include Pre-trip inspection, Basic Skills, and Over the Road Skills and the security and integrity of all testing materials and testing manuals issued by applicable authorities. Must immediately report any testing discrepancies or inaccuracies to the employee's immediate supervisor.
Responsible for attending all CDL refresher classes, and to be conversant with all updates in the testing procedures. Must at all times maintain public and personal creditability as a third-party state examiner.
Must be professional and rational at all times and maintain a high ethical standard in performing all assigned duties. Must treat all Company associates, students, test subject and third parties with dignity, respect and professionalism at all times. Must at all times adhere to all policies and procedures established by the state monitor and the third-party exam facility.
Examiners are responsible for complete, correct and timely submission of all test evaluations, forms, and required reports associated with CDL third party testing.
Examiners are to be in appropriate uniform and be neat and clean while on duty.
CDL examiners are to ensure their testing equipment is always properly maintained.
CDL examiners are to assist with the training department when available in accordance with applicable regulations. May never administer a CDL exam to and individual to whom training was provided.
Regular, reliable and predicable work attendance is an essential function of this position.
All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Company Management.
