A drivers license examiner works in the Department of Public Safety or the DMV. Their duties are to administer a visual test as well as written, oral, and performance tests on the road to individuals applying for a driver’s license, learners permit, or ID card. In addition to regular and commercial licenses for a motor vehicle, they may also evaluate applicants seeking a boat license. Responsibilities include enforcing safety and other state and federal licensing regulations. Other duties include administrative tasks like collecting test payment, maintaining records, preparing reports as needed, filing applications, and entering information into software programs to keep accurate records.
