Job description

Now Hiring: Assistant Head of School

Cantera Montessori School | Georgetown, Texas

Are you an experienced educational leader who thrives in a dynamic, relationship-focused school environment?

Would you enjoy making a meaningful impact in the lives of children, families, and educators every single day?

Are you the kind of leader who believes in collaboration, leads by example, and is willing to do whatever it takes to support a thriving school community?

If so, we would love to meet you.

Join a Growing Montessori Community

Cantera Montessori School, a private boutique Montessori preschool located on two beautiful acres of rolling Texas ranch land in Georgetown, is seeking an exceptional Assistant Head of School to help lead our growing campus community.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated, organized, and compassionate leader who is passionate about early childhood education and thrives in a highly collaborative environment.

As Assistant Head of School, you will partner closely with the Head of School to support the day-to-day operations of the campus while helping create an outstanding experience for every child, family, and staff member who walks through our doors.

At Cantera Montessori, we believe leadership means being present, engaged, and willing to step in wherever needed to support the success of the school community.

About the Role

The Assistant Head of School plays a vital role in ensuring the campus operates smoothly, efficiently, and with a strong focus on children and families.

This role combines leadership, administration, operations, and hands-on support throughout the school day. Responsibilities range from overseeing family onboarding and administrative systems to supporting classroom operations and campus organization.

The variety in this role is wide-ranging and no two days are exactly alike. One moment may involve supporting enrollment or staff scheduling, while another could include assisting with classroom coverage, organizing supplies, helping with snack preparation, or ensuring campus operations stay on track.

This role was intentionally designed to divide critical leadership responsibilities between the Head of School and Assistant Head of School, requiring a collaborative mindset and a strong commitment to teamwork.

What You'll Do

  • Partner closely with the Head of School to manage daily campus operations.
  • Build strong relationships with children, families, and staff.
  • Ensure families have a welcoming, organized, and positive school experience.
  • Support enrollment, onboarding, billing, scheduling, and administrative systems.
  • Help ensure classrooms are properly staffed, supported, and equipped each day.
  • Maintain organization of supplies, inventory, and campus logistics.
  • Step in wherever needed to support smooth school operations.
  • Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative team culture.
  • Lead by example through consistency, communication, and service-minded leadership.

Skills & Qualifications

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Strong administrative and organizational skills.
  • The ability to multitask and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A collaborative, solution-oriented mindset.
  • Confidence managing responsibilities independently while working as part of a team.
  • Experience working with technology, mobile devices, and computer systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a preschool, childcare, or educational setting.
  • Leadership or administrative experience strongly preferred.
  • Montessori experience or Montessori credentials are a significant plus.
  • Willingness to embrace Montessori philosophy and participate in Montessori training if needed.
  • ECE coursework completed or willingness to pursue required training.

The Core Traits We Value

At Cantera Montessori, we look for leaders who embody our values each day:

  • A wholehearted commitment to our motto: "Children First, Always."
  • A positive and proactive "do whatever it takes" attitude.
  • A collaborative spirit and willingness to support others.
  • A leadership style rooted in humility, professionalism, and leading by example.

About Cantera Montessori & MSOSV

Cantera Montessori is part of the Montessori School of Silicon Valley (MSOSV), a growing network of Montessori schools committed to authentic Montessori education and exceptional care for children and families.

Why Join Cantera Montessori?

  • Competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a generous 4% employer match.
  • Supportive leadership and collaborative team culture.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
  • Meaningful work that makes a lasting impact every day.
  • A beautiful Georgetown campus with room for continued growth.
