About Quizlet:
At Quizlet, our mission is to help every learner achieve their outcomes in the most effective and delightful way. We're a $1B+ learning platform used by two-thirds of U.S. high school students and half of college students, powering over 1 billion learning interactions each week.
We blend cognitive science with machine learning to personalize and enhance the learning experience for students, professionals, and lifelong learners alike. We're energized by the potential to power more learners through multiple approaches and various tools.
Let's Build the Future of Learning
Join us to design and deliver AI-powered learning tools that scale across the world and unlock human potential.
Why Join Quizlet?
Massive reach: 60M+ users, 1B+ interactions per week
Cutting-edge tech: Generative AI, adaptive learning, cognitive science
Strong momentum: Top-tier investors, sustainable business, real traction
Mission-first: Work that makes a difference in people's lives
Inclusive culture: Committed to equity, diversity, and belonging
About the Team:
The Learning Experience team at Quizlet is dedicated to revolutionizing how people absorb, retain, and master knowledge. We are an interdisciplinary group of product managers, behavioral scientists, designers, and AI engineers working at the intersection of cognitive psychology and cutting-edge technology. Our team owns Quizlet's core studying toolkit-from adaptive practice engines to multi-modal tools like podcasts, discussion spaces, and interactive Q&A. We operate with high autonomy, fast iteration cycles, and a relentless focus on grounded user impact.
About the Role:
As the Head of Learning Experience, you will own the overarching vision, strategy, and execution for Quizlet's end-to-end study ecosystem. In your day-to-day, you will lead a multidisciplinary suite of study tools-including adaptive learning engines, interactive Q&A, AI audio/podcasts, and community discussion formats-to completely re-imagine how tens of millions of students study. You will collaborate closely with AI/ML engineering, design, and behavioral science leads to transform static study materials into dynamic, personalized learning pathways. This is a high-visibility executive leadership role responsible for driving the core product value proposition that powers billions of monthly learning interactions globally.
We're happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To support collaboration, we ask employees to be in the office at least two days a week: Wednesday, and Thursday.
In this role, you will:
  • Define the Adaptive Study Blueprint: Architect and execute a multi-year product strategy that transforms Quizlet into a fully adaptive, multi-modal study platform driven by behavioral and cognitive science principles.
  • Embed Learning Science into Product DNA: Translate core learning science concepts (e.g., active recall, spaced repetition, scaffolded instruction, metacognition, and cognitive load management) into intuitive, high-converting product mechanics that help students learn faster and retain longer.
  • Own & Scale Multi-Tool Learning Suites: Drive the roadmap for a broad range of study modalities-including interactive AI Q&A, audio/podcast study guides, active-recall engines, and peer-discussion tools-determining which tool helps a user study specific content best.
  • Build Intelligent Experience Engines: Partner with Machine Learning and Behavioral Science teams to build adaptive algorithms that analyze user engagement and dynamically present the right study format at the right time based on user cognitive load and mastery state.
  • Deliver Quantifiable Business & Learning Outcomes: Hit high-impact metrics across 60M+ active users, including increasing daily study session completions by 20%+, improving week-4 cohort retention, and reducing time-to-mastery on complex subjects.
  • Lead High-Performing Cross-functional Pods: Direct product managers, designers, and engineering leads across multiple feature pods to ship high-quality, scientifically grounded features on rapid two-week iteration cycles.
  • Evaluate & Integrate Next-Gen EdTech Capabilities: Continuously audit the consumer tech, AI, and behavioral science landscapes to invent, integrate, or partner for best-in-class tools that make learning frictionless and engaging.
What you bring to the table:
  • 10+ years of Product Leadership: Proven track record of shipping consumer-facing digital products at massive scale (10M+ MAUs), with at least 3+ years managing cross-functional product teams.
  • Applied Behavioral/Cognitive Science: Demonstrated experience applying evidence-based human behavior principles (e.g., habit formation, gamification, cognitive load reduction, or adaptive feedback loops) to drive consumer product engagement-whether in edtech, health/fitness, or consumer AI.
  • Multi-Modal Product Fluency: Hands-on experience building diverse feature sets incorporating interactive media formats, such as audio/podcasts, conversational Q&A interfaces, or community discussion channels.
  • Data & Experimental Rigor: Masterful understanding of A/B testing frameworks, north-star metric definitions, and behavioral analytics to drive sustainable retention.
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Cognitive Science, Behavioral Economics, or a related technical/analytical field.
Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience integrating generative AI, synthetic voice/podcasts, or conversational agents directly into core consumer engagement loops.
  • 5-Year Vision Stretch: The strategic ambition to turn Quizlet into the world's premier autonomous, multi-modal study companion-a system where any user instantly receives a tailor-made mixture of interactive Q&A, audio synthesis, and community discussion explicitly customized to their individual cognitive profile and learning goals.
Compensation, Benefits & Perks:
  • Collaborate with your manager and team to create a healthy work-life balance
  • 20 vacation days that we expect you to take!
  • Competitive health, dental, and vision insurance (100% employee and 75% dependent PPO, Dental, VSP Choice)
  • Employer-sponsored 401k plan with company match
  • Access to LinkedIn Learning and other resources to support professional growth
  • Paid Family Leave, FSA, HSA, Commuter benefits, and Wellness benefits
  • 40 hours of annual paid time off to participate in volunteer programs of choice

We strive to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome!
We work to create a holistic interview process, where both Quizlet and candidates have an opportunity to view what it would be like to work together, in exploring a mutually beneficial partnership.
We provide a transparent setting that gives a comprehensive view of who we are!
In Closing:
At Quizlet, we're excited about passionate people joining our team-even if you don't check every box on the requirements list. We value unique perspectives and believe everyone has something meaningful to contribute. Our culture is all about taking initiative, learning through challenges, and striving for high-quality work while staying curious and open to new ideas. We believe in honest, respectful communication, thoughtful collaboration, and creating a supportive space where everyone can grow and succeed together."
Quizlet's success as an online learning community depends on a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
As an equal opportunity employer and a tech company committed to societal change, we welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with disabilities, and veterans are strongly encouraged to apply. Come join us!
