Job description

Beacon Technologies is seeking a Workday Functional Leadโ€ฏโ€“ Compensation & Learning for our client partner. This position is responsible for leading the functional design, configuration, testing, and implementation of the Workday Compensation and Workday Learning modules. The Workday Functional Lead serves as the primary subjectโ€‘matter expert, collaborating with HR, Compensation, Learning & Development, Payroll, Compliance, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant, and businessโ€‘aligned solutions that enhance the employee experience and support organizational objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, configuration, testing, and deployment of Workday Compensation and Learning solutions.
  • Plan and oversee the development of prototype tenants, configuration migrations, and Production deployments.
  • Drive functional design decisions while ensuring alignment and integration with Core HCM, Recruiting, Talent, Performance, Payroll, Benefits, and other Workday modules.
  • Partner with Compensation, Learning & Development, Compliance, HR, Payroll, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into Workday configuration solutions.
  • Configure and support compensation programs, including compensation grades, plans, eligibility rules, salary structures, merit cycles, bonuses, and compensation review processes.
  • Configure and support Workday Learning functionality, including courses, programs, certifications, learning campaigns, instructors, classrooms, enrollment rules, and compliance training requirements.
  • Lead data conversion and validation efforts related to compensation structures, learning content, training histories, certifications, and associated business processes.
  • Develop and execute system testing strategies, including unit testing, integration testing, endโ€‘toโ€‘end testing, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ensure solution designs align with security, governance, compliance, audit, and business requirements.
  • Identify, manage, and appropriately elevate project risks, issues, and dependencies.
  • Support change management initiatives through stakeholder engagement, training, documentation, and knowledge transfer activities.
  • Provide postโ€‘production support, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement recommendations.
Experience Requirements
  • 5+ years of experience supporting Workday HCM, including Compensation and/or Learning modules.
  • Experience in two (2) or more endโ€‘toโ€‘end Workday implementations involving Compensation, Learning, or related Talent Management modules.
  • Strong understanding of compensation administration processes, including merit planning, bonus programs, compensation eligibility, salary structures, and governance practices.
  • Strong understanding of learning management processes, including compliance training, certification management, instructorโ€‘led training, selfโ€‘paced learning, and curriculum management.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable Workday configurations.
  • Experience with configuration migration, testing, deployment, and production support activities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problemโ€‘solving skills.
  • Experience working with crossโ€‘functional teams in large or complex organizations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting project deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Workday Compensation and/or Workday Learning certification preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, Thrive, Cornerstone, SuccessFactors Learning, or other enterprise HCM/LMS solutions is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting annual compensation planning cycles and organizational learning strategies.
  • Experience implementing Workday Learning for compliance, safety, operational, or technical training programs.
  • Experience supporting union and nonโ€‘union employee populations.
  • Knowledge of Workday reporting, business processes, security, and integrations.
  • Understanding of HR governance, data integrity, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to provide strategic recommendations while balancing business needs, user experience, and system scalability.
