All business units are operated in-house and work closely together to provide clients with integrated solutions and centralized support. Beacon maintains direct partnerships with leading technology firms and is one of the longest-active Google Analytics Certified Partners in the country.
The System Administrator will conduct remote and on-site service calls for Beacon and Beacon customers. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with monitoring tools and administering on-premises, cloud, and hybrid infrastructure. This role will recommend and implement improvements that enhance the stability, performance, scalability, and security of multi-tenant Windows or Linux environments.
Candidates must have excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, take initiative, and collaborate effectively with a team. This is not a remote position.
Required Skills
  • Maintain, configure, monitor, and ensure the reliable operation of computer systems, network servers, cloud resources, and virtualization platforms.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage physical and virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
  • Administer Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services.
  • Support Microsoft Azure environments, including virtual machines, storage, virtual networks, security groups, identity, monitoring, backup, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, network, cloud, and security issues by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing incidents, and assessing business impact.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications for new systems and upgrades to IT infrastructure.
  • Perform or oversee regular backup operations and implement appropriate data protection, disaster recovery, retention, and failover procedures.
  • Support capacity planning, storage management, system performance, and database performance monitoring.
  • Maintain core networking technologies, including LAN and WAN connectivity, routers, switches, VPNs, firewalls, wireless networks, and network security.
  • Configure, monitor, and troubleshoot network firewalls and web application firewalls, including managed rules, custom rules, access restrictions, rate limiting, and application-layer threat protection.
  • Support Microsoft 365 administration and migrations, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, licensing, identity, and security.
  • Administer hybrid identity using Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID, including multifactor authentication, role-based access, and conditional access.
  • Use monitoring, logging, patch-management, endpoint-security, remote-management, and ticketing tools.
  • Develop and maintain scripts and automation using PowerShell or similar technologies.

Education and Experience
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, System Administration, Cybersecurity, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Additional Qualifications
  • Five or more years of network administration, system administration, cloud administration, or managed IT services experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows systems, networking software, hardware, and common networking protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms, including Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure administration and hybrid-cloud environments.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 administration and migration projects.
  • Experience configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and web application firewalls.
  • Knowledge of configuring/supporting Web Application Firewall technologies
  • Experience configuring, administering, and supporting web and application server technologies, including Apache HTTP Server, Apache Tomcat, and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with scripting, automation, and infrastructure management tools.
  • Strong knowledge of IT security, storage, backup, data protection, disaster recovery, vulnerability management, and access control best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting, organizational, documentation, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with technical and nontechnical teams.
  • Hands-on experience working for or supporting a Managed Service Provider is a plus.
  • Relevant Microsoft, Azure, VMware, networking, Linux, security, or system-administration certifications are a plus.
