Job Summary:
Candescent is seeking a Content Designer, AI to join the Content Design team. This role focuses on creating clear, natural, and trustworthy conversational experiences that shape how our AI communicates with users across our digital banking products.
You will play a critical role in building and scaling the language systems behind our AI, including dialog flows, prompting frameworks, reusable content patterns, and guardrails. Working closely with the Head of Content Design and cross-functional partners, you will contribute to the language, behavior, and interaction patterns that power our AI, ensuring every experience is intuitive, consistent, and aligned with the expectations of a regulated financial environment.
This role blends strategic content design, conversation design, and UX writing. The ideal candidate excels at simplifying complex concepts, brings a systems mindset to content experiences, and is passionate about building responsible, high-quality AI experiences that customers can understand and trust.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
  • Partner closely with the Head of Content Design to define how our AI communicates with users, including voice, tone, behavior, interaction patterns, and overall character.

  • Design and scale AI instruction systems, including modular prompts, reusable content patterns, and governance guardrails that support consistency and quality.

  • Help shape how our AI delivers insights, responds to ambiguity, and guides users toward confident action, embedding trust, transparency, risk awareness, and user control across all interactions.

  • Design end-to-end conversational experiences, including dialog flows, prompts, and clarification strategies.

  • Apply and evolve standards for accuracy, clarity, consistency, and safety in AI-generated content.

  • Test, evaluate, and optimize AI interactions using conversation metrics, qualitative feedback, and performance data.

  • Write clear, compelling in-product copy (microcopy, error states, tooltips) mapped to user flows.

  • Document and operationalize content standards, patterns, and guidance within the design system.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, engineering, legal, and research to deliver cohesive, strategic, data-informed experiences.

  • Write in U.S. English for a global audience, optimizing content for accessibility and translation.

Qualifications and Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in content design, conversation design, content strategy, or UX copywriting

  • 1+ years of experience designing content for conversational AI products or features

  • Demonstrated experience with conversational systems, including character development, tone modulation, intent modeling, instructional prompting, and natural interaction flows

  • User-centered, strategy-based approach that distills complex concepts into clear, actionable, jargon-free copy

  • Ability to operate independently and drive work forward in a fast-paced, evolving environment

  • Strong portfolio showing systems thinking, the ability to solve complex user challenges through language, and creative copywriting

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Human-Computer Interaction, a related field, or equivalent experience

  • Bonus: Experience in fintech, banking, or financial services
