Sr. Manager General Description

We are seeking a seasoned leader with a strategic, impact-focused mindset that is passionate about change and innovation to transform and elevate the profile of the Payment business. The Head of Payments has overall responsibility for defining and aligning the Bank’s strategy on P2P, P2B, and B2B payments (including debit/credit cards, merchant services, commercial cash management, payment networks, etc.) across its US and Puerto Rico footprint. As a dynamic and influential leader, he/she is effective at building consensus and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders toward an aligned investment portfolio, product roadmap, and priority setting.

This position encompasses all aspects of business management, such as setting strategic goals, ensuring quality and profitability, digitization of capabilities, client interaction, and P&L management. In this role, he/she leads direct and cross-functional teams through the end-to-end implementation and management of the payment product portfolio, including ideation, business case development, design, implementation, commercialization, and ongoing operations. The successful candidate will be a strategic, results-driven leader who thrives on solving problems with multiple constraints and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities
  • Establish the Bank's payment strategy and drive investments with a clear, sharp vision of the future; ensure effective and ongoing communication with key stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance in developing and implementing payment products, services, and programs to meet customer expectations and increase revenue; lead a team that creates, designs, develops, and delivers innovative payment capabilities (commercial payables/receivables, card solutions, point-of-sale, etc.) that are scalable and sustainable.
  • Be responsible for the P/L of the payment products, including collaboration with sales on pricing strategy and operations/technology on infrastructure expenses to ensure profitability.
  • Identify marketing initiatives to drive product adoption/utilization and revenue growth.
  • Monitor trends, partnerships, and new technologies to define opportunities to expand and deliver integrated services.
  • Ensure product performance and operations adhere to operating KPIs; leverage data to continuously improve the payment offering and ecosystem.
  • Embrace Agile methodology as a way of working and challenge the status quo to operate collaboratively, dynamically, and efficiently.

  • A strong product management background coupled with diverse functional knowledge (marketing, technology, operations, and data) and e-commerce experience across multiple industry verticals.
  • Deep understanding of the latest technology innovation and platforms (open banking, machine learning, blockchain, etc.).
  • Demonstrated success in creating strategic actions based on data and insights from both internal and external sources, and translating these strategies into action through operational decisions and personal effort during challenges.
  • Ability to synthesize, prioritize and drive results with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong analytical, presentation and communication skills with an ability to explain complex concepts compellingly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with an ability to motivate, influence, and build consensus.
  • Fully bilingual is required.
