POSITION PURPOSE
To facilitate a welcoming environment for customers in our retail spaces by delivering a great customer experience and serving quality food, drinks and products in line with procedures set by Management.



POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

Key accountabilities and responsibilities for this role:

Customer Service

  • Provide excellent service to customers in the Attwell Coffee shop, Attwell Books, and other pop-up retail environments according to the standards and procedures set by the Retail Manager and via the following:
    • Conducting cash, debit and credit card transactions accurately
    • Making drinks and serving food according to customer requirements and in line with procedures set by the Retail Manager
    • Operating, cleaning and maintaining coffee machines and grinders according to schedule assigned by the Retail Manager
    • Operating POS system accurately, retrieving floats and closure of cash registers as required and according to correct procedures
    • Maintaining a neat, clean and approachable appearance, both personally and in Attwell Coffee
    • Serving all food/drinks from the counter using appropriate tools and presentation techniques
    • Maintaining working product knowledge to ensure that customers are appropriately informed of their purchases on request
  • Maintain up to date barista training, set out by the Retail manager, in order to deliver high quality espresso based drinks, tea and other specialty beverages.
  • Assist with food preparation as required according to procedures set by the Head Chef
  • Restock products in the bookstore, ensuring they are neatly organized and nicely presented on shelving
  • Open on time when on an opening shift. Follow the correct open and close down procedures set by the retail manager(i.e everything left clean, tidy and secure, ready for the next day of trade)


Health & Safety

  • Facilitate an environment that is welcoming, safe, accessible and clean. Maintaining the health and safety standards of all retail spaces via the following:
    • Ensure all accidents/health and safety issues are recorded within 5 hours via the correct procedures
    • Follow correct handling and lifting procedures as outlined in introduction training
    • Complete tasks in accordance with retail space health, hygiene, quality & safety standards set by the Retail Manager
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary environment throughout the workday, including wiping down tables, surfaces, windows/window sills, mopping floors, tidying chairs and tables



POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Key educational and experiential qualifications for this role:

  • Barista experience is an asset. Aptitude to make Espresso based drinks an asset
  • High school diploma an asset
  • Ability to lift 15kg comfortably, safely and without assistance is essential
  • Understanding and appreciation for Catch the Fire values an asset
  • Good interpersonal skills, willingness to learn new skills and teachable.
  • Must be able to work alone and as part of a team.
  • Have good problem-solving skills, flexible, adaptable and receptive to change.
  • Able to work with other teams and departments, willing to take on new challenges as they arise.
  • Basic maths skills required
