JOB SUMMARY: The Shipper is responsible for preparing, packaging, organizing, and dispatching outgoing shipments from the manufacturing facility. This includes building secure pallets, loading trucks, verifying shipment accuracy, and ensuring products are shipped in a timely and organized manner. The role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient logistics and customer satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES amp; RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
  • Collaborate with production and warehouse teams to verify that all items are ready and meet quality standards before shipping.
  • Pick, pack, and prepare orders for shipment based on customer and production specifications.
  • Build and wrap pallets according to load configuration standards to ensure stability and safety during transit.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, saws, and nail guns to construct custom pallets, skids, or crates for oversized or sensitive items.
  • Prepare and package products for shipment according to order specifications and customer requirements.
  • Load and unload trucks using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material handling equipment, ensuring safe and damage-free handling.
  • Organize and stage shipments in the correct order based on delivery schedules, destinations, and carrier pick-up times.
  • Verify outgoing shipments by checking contents against bills of lading, packing slips, or other documentation.
  • Label, weigh, and document all outgoing materials using shipping software and systems.
  • Schedule and coordinate pickups with freight carriers and delivery services.
  • Maintain accurate shipping records and update tracking systems as needed.
  • Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy, damage, and completeness.
  • Work with production, inventory, and quality control teams to ensure accurate order fulfillment.
  • Ensure shipping and loading areas remain clean, organized, and safe.

QUALIFICATIONS amp; REQUIREMENTS:
  • Familiarity with shipping procedures, freight classifications, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with LTL, FTL, and parcel shipping (UPS, FedEx, etc.).
  • Experience using shipping software and ERP systems.
  • Basic computer knowledge, including printing documents.
  • Strong basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to convert decimals to fractions and read a tape measure to 1/16”.
  • Basic reading and writing proficiency.
  • Operate forklifts and pallet jacks safely.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills including prioritizing duties.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Requires use of PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
  • Successful completion of 90-day probationary period.
EDUCATION amp; EXPERIENCE:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience in shipping/receiving within a manufacturing environment preferred.
