Job description

Salary: $18-$25/hour, depending on experience

Industrial Municipal Supply Co. is looking for an HDPE Fusion Technician to support our fusion, fabrication, rental, and field service operations in Geismar, Louisiana. This is a hands-on role for someone who is mechanically inclined, dependable, safety-minded, and interested in learning specialized pipe fusion work.


The Fusion Technician will help prepare, fuse, fabricate, inspect, and document HDPE pipe and fittings using fusion equipment and shop tools. Prior HDPE fusion experience is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who has strong mechanical ability, attention to detail, and a good work ethic.


Responsibilities

- Set up and operate HDPE fusion equipment under IMSCO procedures and safety standards.

- Measure, cut, clean, align, and prepare HDPE pipe and fittings for fusion.

- Assist with butt fusion, socket fusion, sidewall fusion, and related fabrication work.

- Read basic drawings, job instructions, and material requirements.

- Inspect finished work for quality, alignment, appearance, and completeness.

- Help maintain fusion machines, tools, pipe stands, rollers, and related equipment.

- Support shop fabrication, field service, rental equipment preparation, and job staging as needed.

- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.

- Follow all safety procedures and use required PPE.

- Communicate clearly with supervisors, technicians, sales, and warehouse personnel.


Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

- HDPE pipe fusion experience preferred, but not required for the right candidate.

- Mechanical, fabrication, pipe fitting, plumbing, utilities, rental equipment, or industrial experience is a plus.

- Ability to read a tape measure and follow written/verbal work instructions.

- Comfortable using hand tools, shop tools, and basic equipment.

- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn proper fusion procedures.

- Dependable attendance and ability to work as part of a team.

- Valid driver's license preferred.

- Ability to lift, carry, bend, stand, and work in a shop or field environment.


Work Environment

This role involves hands-on work in a shop, warehouse, yard, and occasional field setting. Work may include standing, bending, lifting, using tools, handling pipe/fittings, and working around industrial equipment. Safety, accuracy, and dependability are important every day.
