TITLE: Meals On Wheels Kitchen Sr. Asst. Manager


GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Assistant Manager of the Home Delivered Meals (HDM) kitchen shall be responsible to the Kitchen Manager and/or the Nutrition Program Director for the overall operation of the kitchen and supervision of all staff and volunteers.


This is a full-time (30 hr/wk) role based out of our Erving Kitchen, serving Franklin County and the North Quabbin area. We offer excellent benefits including generous PTO, medical/dental/vision insurance, Flex spending, EAP, 401k and more! 6% pay differential for applicable bilingual skills.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent communication, organizational, and managerial skills; ability to work cooperatively with and be able to direct staff and volunteers; knowledge of nutrition and food service techniques; computer literacy; a driver's license and insured, reliable vehicle; accurate mathematical and recordkeeping skills. Must be ServSafe certified or willing to be certified within 3 months of hire. Must be dependable and understand the need for consumer confidentiality.



DUTIES:

  1. Assist the Kitchen Manager and fill in for the Manager in the event of their absence
  2. Run and print daily reports out of the consumer database.
  3. Review and update shared Excel sheets.
  4. Delivermeals as requested/needed.
  5. Finalize daily driver delivery sheets and meal orders.
  6. Schedule employees and volunteers in the absence of kitchen manager.
  7. Start phone trees on a day when the program is closed, in absence of the kitchen manager.
  8. Assist daily on home delivered meals (HDM) packing line
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION:

The Senior Assistant Manager reports to the Kitchen Manager.



ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Physical:

  • Occasional reaching and grabbing objects with both hands, twisting of hand and wrist, and pushing and pulling of objects.
  • Occasional bending, squatting, and twisting to perform work functions.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to navigate independently to locate any address within the HDM Program service area.

Environmental:

  • Time is split between indoor kitchen work and traveling outdoors to deliver meals to consumers in their homes.
  • Must be able to tolerate odors and pollutants including but not limited to smoke, air fresheners, pet dander, personal odors, etc. from a variety of in-home conditions.
  • Must be able to tolerate heat and cold of seasonal changes and indoor temperatures.
