The Principal HRIS Analyst is responsible for the strategic administration, optimization, and support of the organization's Human Capital Management (HCM) systems within Workday. This role serves as the functional lead for Workday HCM modules and supervises an HRIS/HR Analyst to ensure efficient operations, reporting, process improvement, and data integrity across HR systems in collaboration with the HR CS & VMS teams.

The ideal candidate combines strong Workday expertise, analytical skills, project leadership, and people leadership capabilities to drive continuous improvement and support organizational goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Workday HCM Leadership & Administration:

  • Serve as the lead functional expert and primary administrator for Workday HCM modules, including Core HCM, Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting, Talent, Performance, Absence.

  • Lead system optimization, testing, maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements within Workday HCM.

  • Partner with HR, Payroll, IT, and business stakeholders to identify system needs and implement scalable solutions.

  • Manage Workday HCM releases, evaluate impacts, and coordinate testing and deployment activities.

  • Ensure system security roles, workflows, and business processes align with organizational policies and compliance requirements.

  • Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex HRIS issues and escalations.

  • Develop and maintain Workday reports and sprint projects.

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of HR data.

2. Process Improvement & Project Management:

  • Lead HR systems projects, implementations, monitor HCM integrations, and make recommendations for system improvements.

  • Evaluate existing HR processes and recommend automation and efficiency enhancements.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on enterprise initiatives involving HR technology.

  • Create and maintain system documentation, procedures, and training materials for internal team in addition to providing support to users as needed.

  • Establish and maintain HRIS best practices and standards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field.

  • 5+ years of HRIS experience, including extensive hands-on Workday HCM administration.

  • 2+ years of experience leading projects, initiatives, or direct supervision of staff.

  • Strong experience with Workday business processes, reporting, security, and configuration.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Workday certifications in HCM or related modules.

  • Experience supporting multiple Workday modules and integrations.

  • Knowledge of HR compliance, payroll processes, and data governance practices.

  • Experience with system implementations, upgrades, or mergers/acquisitions.

  • Proficiency in Excel, data visualization tools, and HR analytics.
