Job Summary and Qualifications

The staff occupational therapist is responsible for the evaluation, assessment and treatment of a wide variety of patients, including, but not limited to patients with: neurological, orthopedic, cardiac, and other medical conditions in the areas of acute, sub-acute, rehabilitation and outpatient occupational therapy. The staff occupational therapist is responsible for the supervision of occupational therapy assistants and rehab technicians. The staff occupational therapist must evaluate and treat patients in accordance with the rules and regulations of this facility, the Occupational Therapy Practice Act and the State of Nevada. The staff occupational therapist must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span. Must assess and interpret data reflective of the patients’ medical status and age specific needs in order to provide the appropriate care as described in the department’s policies and procedures. The staff occupational therapist will provide goal directed treatment program planning, implementation and modification, as well as related documentation and communication for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations, without regard to race, color, sex, religion, or national origin. 

What you will do in this role:

  • You will provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.
  • You will assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status. You will participate in patient placement and in the development of the total plan of care.
  • You will provide purposeful and skilled interaction care. You will use procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.
  • You will observe and report patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient’s condition.
  • You will communicate pertinent payor needs/requirements to physician, treatment team, patient and patient’s family in a timely manner.
  • You will prioritize caseload, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments/handoffs.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One to two year experience in hospital setting preferred. Entry level graduates will be considered.
  • License from the State of Nevada.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)
