COME JOIN THE REEFER PETERBILT TEAM! We are seeking a Service Manager for our New Boston, MI location. The Service Manager is responsible for the efficient and profitable operation of the Service Department while developing and maintaining a high level of overall customer satisfaction. This is an exempt position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises the day-to-day activities of all Service Department employees, and is responsible for the profitability and overall financial performance of the Service Department
  • Manage the repair process and shop workflow
  • Addresses and handles personnel issues for the Service Department to include Performance Appraisals, Performance Improvement Plans, and disciplinary action when applicable
  • Participates in the recruiting, Interviewing, and hiring of diesel technicians and administrative staff
  • Ensures shop personnel are properly trained and certified by scheduling training classes and/or arranging in-house training as needed
  • Establishes and maintains effective management and record-keeping systems
  • Holds regular shop meetings, foreman's meetings, and safety meetings to review policy, procedures, technical updates, customer issues, etc. Records and maintains notes of such meetings
  • Attends monthly manager meetings to provide department updates to the management team
  • Maintains a strong working knowledge of industry regulations, restrictions, and laws, ensuring the company's adherence to these regulations, and remaining current on the industry's standards and new innovations, materials, tools, and processes
  • Understands and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect service operations to include HAZMAT Program, OSHA Right-to-Know, environmental compliance, and safety programs
  • Maintaining accurate timekeeping for payroll and performance purposes
  • Establishes and fosters relationships with key outside vendors
  • Ensures overall upkeep of dealership facility and grounds
  • Perform other duties as assigned



Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of heavy-duty truck service management experience or related supervisory experience
  • Supervisory skills to include the ability to coach, train and motivate subordinates to reach established goals
  • High School diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and handle numerous tasks simultaneously
  • Effective written, phone, and verbal communication skills
  • Good mathematical skills and working knowledge of MS Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) preferred
  • Unrestricted ability to walk, stand, bend, stoop, squat, lift & carry up to 50 lbs. with both arms
  • Ability to work in a shop environment to include 8 - 12 hour days with frequent exposure to weather elements
