Description
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The person that works in the Hatchery as a crewmember shall assist in the setting and transferring of hatching eggs, correctly count chicks for processing, and aid in the cleaning and sanitizing of hatchery rooms and equipment. This position will also monitor and record the temperatures and humidity levels for setting and hatching equipment throughout the day.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Must be able to follow written or verbal instructions for scheduled tasks.
  • Must be able to learn and properly follow all procedures required in the setting and transferring of hatching eggs in the setting and hatcher equipment.
  • Properly cleaning and sanitizing rooms and equipment according to set procedures and schedules.
  • Familiarizing oneself with safety equipment and using it for all specified tasks.
  • Accurately counting chicks from hatch pans.
  • Must inform management of any problems, irregularities or concerns noted as they are during the last physical control step of chick quality before farm delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
  • Must possess good writing and arithmetic skills.
  • Must possess good communication skills and a working knowledge of the English language.
  • Must be dependable and be able to work flexible hours, including some weekends and holidays.
  • Must be in good physical condition and be able to lift at least 25 pounds from floor to above head.
  • Ability to quickly address critical and urgent situations in a timely and consistent manner.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Must possess the ability to work in an agricultural environment, indoors, outdoors, office, warehouse, processing, and farm production areas each varying in temperature, and other environment specific atmospheres.
  • Must be willing and able to work past the scheduled leave time to complete the job, if needed.
  • Must possess the ability to work in an open office setting.
  • Must maintain professionalism with coworkers.
