Job Description

Hardware Service Group

- 7x24x365 Support

- Perform physical site planning for all computer equipment to be installed or de-installed at the ITO Data Center.

- Coordinate floor space and electrical power requirements between the SBU and facilities department

- Review, finalize, and signoff on hardware components to be acquired to fulfill IMACs 

- Receive and inventory equipment to be installed in the data center and arrange for shipping of equipment out of the data center

- Perform mainframe and midrange computer processor, tape, network, and disk hardware installs/de-installs, moves, adds, changes (IMACS)

- Provide connectivity to installed mainframe and midrange computer processor, tape, network, and disk hardware as required

- Maintain CMDB and perform audits

- Coordinate vendor hardware and circuit installations

- Support/perform hardware break/fix activities 

- Assist vendors with hardware problem determination

- Vendor management escalation and escort when applicable 

- Provide off hours facility engineering support

- Provide internal and external audit support

- Attend internal and client meetings to provide support for hardware related inquiries 

- Support all physical transitions including organic and new business 

- Maybe be asked to assist in loading of images or configurations on certain equipment during the install process

- Assist in mentoring and training of other hardware services associates

- Overall Vendor management 

- Help develop DC best practices processes and procedures

- Insure that best practices and procedures are followed at all times 

- Attend internal project calls or customer calls to assist with technical matters related to hardware installation in the DC

- Provide technical hardware expertise for customers and projects

- Help develop overall DC plan for hardware installation

- Escalation of incidents and problems to upper management

- Insure that all internal and external tasks are completed for the team 

- Assist with new business pursuits in regards to HW solutions, HW sizing and placement

- Assist in the Investigation and implementation of new HW technologies and/or DCIM

- Insure that the Site Services CMDB is accurate

- Assist with DC tours for customers, auditors or other management teams

- Analyze and record hardware support related trends for review and continuous improvement 

- Responsible for overall management of all aspects of the hardware team

- Responsible for all aspects of the data center floor as it relates to hardware installation/layout 

- Insures proper development of hardware services staff

Qualifications

- 5 years of hardware experience in a Data Center environment

- 5 years of management experience

- Experience in a 24X7 environment

Schedules: The RTS environment is open 24 hours a day/7 days a week providing support 365 days a year. You must have the flexibility to work any shift, which could include evenings, weekends and some holidays.
