Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Control Systems Hardware Engineering Intern will assist in the maintenance of existing control systems and the development new control systems.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Works with team members in the design, development, prototyping and testing of hardware for HVAC and building automation control systems and ancillary devices. Responsible for overseeing partial or complete hardware development of digital and analog control systems from schematic development and review to prototype production and full production documentation.

Specific duties include:

  • Work with project leaders and stake holders to develop design criteria for specific projects.

  • Document design criteria creating SOW (statement of work) and make estimates of work required.

  • Evaluate components and design schematics, using Altium, to achieve the design goals.

  • Using Altium, design the PCB, along with all necessary production documentation to build the product, including BOMs and production documentation.

  • Work with supply chain management to order parts for prototyping.

  • Build and perform initial testing on prototype, including working with Pick-and-place equipment and other equipment in the engineering lab.

  • Provide full production documentation for Contract Manufactures (CM).

  • Additional duties may include

  • Writing test software for the product.

  • Working with software development engineers to provide support of specialized hardware operations on the product.

  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Pursuit of a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with a preference for a senior in standing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Self-directed and motivated.

  • Technical Writing Skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word.

  • Good communication skills to work with the engineering team and others out side the team including AAON personnel, reps, customers and vendors.

Work Environment:

  • Lift up to 30 lbs.

  • Sit, stand, kneel, and reach throughout the shift.

  • Work in noisy, hot, or cold environments as needed

Schedule is Mon. - Fri. 40 Hours per week during summer of 2026.
